Excel froze
I was trying to copy and paste a spreadsheet. I got a portion of it highlighted when my mouse stopped highlighting and the program froze. It changed the first box to show an incorrect formula. Now nothing I do will let me change anything. I can't even close the program to try and reopen it. Everything is locked down.

To close Excel, from a command line:
taskkill /f /im excel.exe
Other things to check might include looking for an open dialogue box, possibly displayed on another monitor.
To close a reluctant app it is also possible to use Ctrl/Alt/Del and then open the Task Manager. That allows individual apps to be closed.
Did you try pressing Escape on your keyboard?
If all else fails, simply reboot your computer.
