Excel froze
I was trying to copy and paste a spreadsheet. I got a portion of it highlighted when my mouse stopped highlighting and the program froze. It changed the first box to show an incorrect formula. Now...
Other things to check might include looking for an open dialogue box, possibly displayed on another monitor.
To close a reluctant app it is also possible to use Ctrl/Alt/Del and then open the Task Manager. That allows individual apps to be closed.
