Excel formula for calculating average speed from date/time and distance
Hello all,
I am trying to figure out a way to calculate average speed from distance and time. However, everything that I am finding thus far relates to time that would be in one day. I need mine to be across multiple days. Is this possible?
The idea is to calculate the average speed from point A to point B starting on day 1 then ending on another date.
For context, I am riding my bike and if I start at 5 AM in the morning, and end the event 2 days later at 11:49 AM, what would be my average speed?
Do I need to have my formula use a cell for date and a cell for time, or can I combine the date/time into one cell and get the calculation from that?
Thank you in advance and please reach out with any questions!

deca2499 I'm going to start by just referring you to this other website where you'll find a lot of information on dates and times and how Excel manages them. The quick answer to your question is that you should be able to enter into one cell the starting date and time, another the ending date and time, and do simple math to calculate the elapsed hours.
Enjoy your bike ride. Cross country rides are great fun!
