Excel Data Validation - recent change is 'auto' filtering duplicates.

I use Excel Data Validation lists to quickly select information. I use blank rows to space out options. Since today, these blank rows AND any list entry that is identical until the second paragraph is filtered out when clicking the dropdown option.

Another thread describes this issue dating back from April. The problem has only started today for me. Here is the original article: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/data-validation-list-is-removing-duplicates-on/2f830c8f-18ff-4186-809f-f99e1126776d?rtAction=1698244092599

The issue is exactly the same as the above. It persists over any workbook, so it is not a corruption issue. The issue has been around since April, so it appears to be a Microsoft implementation issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I reached out to Microsoft support, but we were unable to resolve this issue. The advice was to post here so the dev's could see the problem.

Many thanks,

Adam

pretty sure this is part of the dynamic filter added to the drop down lists. The is a new feature that started rolling out way back then but only recently reached the rest of us. Basically you can now type in the box and it will autofilter the list to only those entries that match your typing. Apparently this is also filtering duplicates.

mtarler Interesting. Do you happen to know if there is a way to disable this? I am on Excel Mac.
