Excel Cell Width Wont Work, Please help.

Does your cells have a content/value? if it does, try enabling the 'Wrap Text'.

That--doing it in Word--is what I came in to suggest. So I'm glad you came to that on your own.
I can understand why you may have started with Excel, but given that you weren't really seeking to use Excel for the things Excel does well (calculations, databases, etc), it helps to realize that the rows and columns aren't there for their own sakes.
