Error #Value! when using FIND ()

Hi All,   I'm trying to evaluate this formula: FIND (":",E35,1) but keep getting #Value! error if the cell E35 doesn't contain the ":" This happens with any character that was not found in the str...

You did not read the online help text:

 

If find_text does not appear in within_text, FIND and FINDB return the #VALUE! error value.

    I did but it doesn't solve my problem 😉

    What is the alternative? workaround?

      Nevermind, I found the solution:

      =IF(ISERROR(FIND(":",E38,1)),E38,"ABCD")
