Drop Down List Filter Question
- Oct 29, 2024
Hi (politeness obliges me ) Reception305
Why not putting in place Slicers on your "Master" Table, instead of drop-down lists?
Lorenzo Oooooooooooo you are a genius!!!!!!!!! This is a great solution to my problem.
Thank you Lorenzo. You are the bestππ
Reception305 The genius is the person who thought about slicers
Glad this a good option for your scenario & Thanks for providing feedback
- Reception305Oct 30, 2024Copper ContributorHmmm.... that is true the person who came up with slicers is a genius but, you are the genius who provided me with this genius idea and solution to a problem I couldn't find on my own so I thank you again from the bottom of my heart.
Also another question for you Lorenzo is there a way to hide and unhide certain columns using what is selected from a slicer. Like I pick Janitorial/disposable items from the category Slicer list and what it shows in the table is everything but Date Purchased and Date Expiration column. However if I pick snacks/grocery from the category slicer list it will show all columns including the Date purchased and Date expiration. The same goes with vendor Slicer If I select Costco It will show all columns including the Date purchased and Date expiration and if I select Staples the Date purchased and Date expiration column gets hidden. Hopefully this makes sense. Is there a way to use like a conditional format hide/unhide certain columns in a table based on a selection made in a slicer and still have the table editable? I'm just wondering. If it isn't possible, well that's life hehe- LorenzoOct 31, 2024Silver Contributor
Hiding columns based on slicer selection might be doable with VBA. Not sure though, not my expertise
Blanking non-relevant cells/values with Cond. Formatting may be... Can you share a workbook with dummy representative data, including a couple of columns with values that should be blanked (or not) ?- Reception305Oct 31, 2024Copper Contributor
Sure I can share a workbook with some dummy data on it
Hopefully the Link works, If it doesn't I'll attach the file just in case
