delete multiple rows in a spreadsheet based on one of the multiples

I have a spreadsheet with data on an organization's members. In the left column it shows their member number. There are duplicates of the same members because I have a row for each product code they have had.

I want to delete members with a balance over £0 on some product codes. I can do this but it will not delete all other rows with that members member number on. If a member has an outstanding balance on some codes, I want to delete each row with that member. Is their a function that can help me with this?

I have attached a mock example below. Lets say I wanted to delete all members with a product code beginning with L and include mentioned of that member number on rows where they have a product code beginning with S.

Many thanks,

Have you tried inserting a pivot table?
You can also insert a Slicer in your table

      Hi cris_no_h,

Thanks for your reply. I have had a look at both of these and they don't quite do what I'd like. I want a way where I can filter or delete all rows with a member number than has a specific product code on one row. Everything I've tried so far allows me to filter or delete the row with the product code on but does not include all other rows with that member on.

So looking at the example, I want to delete all members with a product code beginning with L. So I can delete row 4 as member 57 has a L balance, but he'd sill be on the list elsewhere with different products.

      Many thanks,

    Have you tried filters?

Here is some information about this as well as your file with filter function.

Filter data in a range or table

    Filter by using advanced criteria

Custom filtering can help such as not showing products with initial names.

Try it out, maybe it fits your plans, if not, just report it in the forum:).

Hope to have helped you with this.

I also wish you a lot of fun and success with Excel.

      Hi NikolinoDE

Thanks, this has been helpful but I feel like what I am trying to do is more complex. If I filter out rows with product codes begging with L and an active balance it still will not filter out the same members on rows where the L product code isn't mentioned, therefore, those members I want to filter out will still be on the list.

      Hope this adds some clarity.

      Many thanks

Using your table, could you give an exact example of what you would like to accomplish?

Thank you for your patience and understanding
