delete multiple rows in a spreadsheet based on one of the multiples
I have a spreadsheet with data on an organization's members. In the left column it shows their member number. There are duplicates of the same members because I have a row for each product code they ...

Have you tried filters?
Here is some information about this as well as your file with filter function.
Filter data in a range or table
Filter by using advanced criteria
Custom filtering can help such as not showing products with initial names.
Try it out, maybe it fits your plans, if not, just report it in the forum:).
Hope to have helped you with this.
I also wish you a lot of fun and success with Excel.

Hi NikolinoDE
Thanks, this has been helpful but I feel like what I am trying to do is more complex. If I filter out rows with product codes begging with L and an active balance it still will not filter out the same members on rows where the L product code isn't mentioned, therefore, those members I want to filter out will still be on the list.
Hope this adds some clarity.
Many thanks
Beck

Thank you for your patience and understanding- beckgolubowsDec 03, 2021Copper ContributorThanks NikolinoDE,
Yes, I'd like to delete all members with a product code beginning with L that have an outstanding balance on that product e.g. member 57 on row 4. The problem is, if I delete row 4, member 57 is still on my list on row 2 and 3 as he has other products. Ideally, I'd like to delete or filter out all other rows of member 57, because row 4 shows he has a balance on an L product.
One way I have tried to do this is by consolidating all S products and all L products on separate sheets. But eventually I'd like to know the most recent deposit date, and by consolidating rows this does now save all dates.
One of the problems I find with learning Excel is that I find it hard to put what I am trying to do into words so I hope this helps.
Thanks so much for helping,
