Default custom name of active field in Pivot Table

Hi,

I found this link that shows me how to change it manually (which I already know) :

https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/change-the-summary-function-or-custom-calculation-for-a-field-in-a-pivottable-report-ea8945fb-9969-4bac-a16c-4f67b0f7b239

However, I'd like to set by default "Source name = Custom name". At this moment Excel always takes "Custom name = Function used + Source name" and it's inconvenient for the size of the column. It will be more efficient for me to be able to change this default setting.

Thanks for your help!

  • You can't set the name of a value field to be the name of its source field. That would cause an error:

In addition, it is not possible to change the default name of a value field, as far as I know.

Yes I've been looking for so long and am tired of removing "Sum of..." everytime

  • If that is suggestion to Microsoft better to publish it on Excel feedback portal Excel · Community, at least Microsoft people are monitoring it.

However, I doubt that something will be changed in behaviour for cached PivotTables and implicit measures. Recommended practice is to work with data model, if supported by your version of Excel, and use explicit measures.

Ok thanks, will do. It's my first time posting.
