cursor auto jump upon input attempt
what feature can I turn off to nullify my cursor automatically jumping to a different cell when I attempt to imput a number into a cell? Why is it jumping?
- Are you saying that as you are typing the cursor suddenly moves, or that the cursor moves after pressing Enter?
If suddenly moving when typing then check that your Num Lock is on otherwise many keyboards share the arrow keys with numeric keypads- Linda BradtCopper Contributor
I've been using a much older version of Excel and upgraded to 365 today. I can't remember how to stop the cursor from moving down a row after hitting the enter button. I would like it not to move at all. Thanks
Go to File > Options > Advanced and untick this box
- Chuck FANCHERCopper Contributorthank you, Mr. Hopkins. It suddenly moved upon typing in 1 digit. Number Lock was the issue. why does excel NOT inform me of the # lock when I attempt to enter a #? Thanks for taking the time to help.
- No problem. I think many of us have been “caught” by NUMLOCK
