Ctrl F brings up debug window instead of find

Sometimes when I have the same excel file open for hours, when I press ctrl f it brings up the debug function instead of the find menu. When I close excel and reopen the file, the normal ctrl f function is restored. Any ideas what this bug is and how to fix? With some light google searching I couldn't find any other users reporting the same issue.

  • Are any of the files you are opening .xlsm files?

Do you have any addins installed?

Also try pressing Alt + F11 to see if the PERSONAL.XLSB workbook has any modules in it

  • Does it always happen with the same file, or different files?

Have you ever used your Personal Macro workbook?

Different files. When it happens, it applies to all excel files open at that time. And I don't know what a personal macro workbook is, I don't use macros.

  • I always thought ctrl+f works only on web/pdf. I'm using ctrl+shift+t (Italy) to open the find menu; in English systems may be ctrl+shift+f?
