Creating Bins in Excel

Hello,

I am am trying to do an assignment for class but it requires creating bins. I usually fallow this community to find directions, always very helpful but I cant seem to find directions on imputing bins. I understand historiography has some correlation but I need to understand further and more importantly to create bins separately.

Thank you

I do not know if your class involves historiography, but I wonder if there is some confusion of terms. (I see that historiography has a different Greek root than than the root for histogram.)

So far as I know, the use of bins in Excel is toward creating histograms. Some helpful material regarding bin creation might be found in this article: Histogram – The Ultimate Guide of Binning

In Excel, data values might be aggregated by the use of formulas using the COUNTIFS function (with the upper and lower bounds of a bin as two criteria), and you can use a Bar Chart to display the histogram.  Or more easily, you can select your data, choose Histogram when inserting a chart, and let Excel calculate an appropriate bin size (you can change the bin width or number of bins under "Format Axis").

SnowMan55Thank you.  I didn't realize the bin was the value in the graph. I was under the impression that the bin was built like a column where you enter the value within the cells. Either way, Thank you, the article was filled with great data for me to get familiar with excel.

      Thank you
