Circular calc flag not specific to individual workbooks
If I open a WB with the circular calc flag OFF, if I then open a WB that was saved with the circular calc flag ON, the circular calc flag remains OFF.
If I open a WB with the circular calc flag ON, if I then open a WB that was saved with the circular calc flag OFF, the circular calc flag remains ON.
This seems like a problem if the one with circular calc flag NEEDS to have circular turned on but Excel doesn't keep the circular calc flag with each file.
Does this mean I can only work on one sheet at a time or just ones that all have the circular calc with the same setting?

Do you mean whether Iterative Calculation is enabled or not? That's because Iterative Calculation is an application-level setting, not a workbook-level or worksheet-level setting. It is either on for all workbooks, or off for all workbooks.
- gregmorCopper ContributorSo if I have a workbook that requires iterative calculation and I normally open it first/alone, it works just fine. If I already have another workbook open that doesn't use iterative calculation and the flag is off then open the one that does require it, the one that does require iterative calculation fails to operate correctly? Does that seem reasonable?
Yes, I know that iterative is currently set as an application level setting but doesn't it make sense that it should be a workbook level setting as each workbook has its own requirements for calculation? It seems like a design flaw in Excel to me.You can submit a complaint or request to Microsoft from within Excel: select File > Feedback, then either click Send a Frown or Send a Suggestion.
