Can you lock an excel document so only 1 person can work at a time
That shall be an environment which supports check-in/check-out mechanism, e.g. SharePoint library
so lets say i have excel hosted on sharepoint or onedive for business and i have shared it for collaboration purpose.
How do i now limit the editing to just one person ata time ?SergeiBaklan

If in Sharepoint library settings you set Require check-out for editing
when anyone who opens the file will be prompted to check-out the file for the editing if no one person edits the file at this moment. If the latest, the file could be opened only for reading. When the one who edited the file closes it, he will be prompted to check-in it, with that another person will be able to open for editing.
That's a long story to describe, in reality above is quite simple.

If you are on Sharepoint Online document library, click the gear (settings) on top right, select Library settings, here Versioning settings, here Yes for Require Check Out.
