Calculate partial month salary
I’d probably handle this by checking whether the employee’s start date and end date overlap with the month being calculated, then counting only the eligible days. For July, if the employee worked 23 out of 31 calendar days, the calculation would be monthly salary × 23/31. If their employment ended in July, the following months should return zero rather than continuing to calculate pay. Using `MIN` and `MAX` with the employment dates and month boundaries could help make the formula work across different months.
This kind of calculation also shows why pay periods and actual hours worked matter. For a quick comparison when someone is paid by the hour instead of receiving a fixed monthly salary, an hourly wage calculator can be a useful alternative.
