2021 Week Number

Dear Community,

 

I often use Excel (Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013) to make schedule.

When I use formula [ =weeknum("date" ; 2) ] for 2021 and result does not seem right.

  • 1/1/2021 => week 1 => correct
  • 4/1/2021 => week 2 => not correct
  • 11/1/2021 = week 3 => not correct

I checked on other calendar website and Google agenda for confirmation.

 

Could you help me to clarify this issue?

    It depends on how do you count weeks for the year. If based on ISO standard, when

    =ISOWEEKNUM(A1)

    but for the first 3 days of this year it returns week#53 as it is defined in standard.

    Anyway, first we shall to define what is correct and what is not correct, i.e. how weeks are numbered.
