Top Feedback Summary for February 26
Note: This is no longer the most recent top feedback summary. You can always find the latest at https://aka.ms/MSEdgeTopFeedback.
Hello, Insiders! Welcome to this week’s (mostly on-schedule) top feedback summary! Even though we had a late update to this list last week, we do have a few changes happening today. There are a lot of cool changes implemented in our Dev channel as well, so head over to the change summary Josh posts to see what’s new!
We’re excited to share that Provide an option to add a share button to the tool bar has moved to Addressed. SURPRISE! To enable this on your toolbar, you can:
Navigate to the ellipses menu in the top right, and right-click on the Share option.
Head to edge://settings/appearance and turn on the Show share button option.
Or right-click on either the Favorites or Collections icon and hit Customize toolbar.
You can remove it from the toolbar using all these same methods and hitting Hide from toolbar instead of Show. Give it a try and let us know how you feel about this!
As we end February this week, it unfortunately means we have to push some items out to March. Both Enable sync of installed browser extensions between devices and Option to set a custom photo as the New Tab Page background photo are now expected to be implemented in both Canary and Dev channels next month. We understand the frustrations that come around when we push a delivery date out (sometimes multiple times). Know that we are actively working with the feature teams to provide the most recent updates.
Since there will likely be a question about it not being updated, we currently have no updates on the Favorites sync issues we have flagged as Planned for February. However, we are continuously talking with the feature team to provide you all an update. Stay tuned!
Here’s this week’s updated list:

Thanks for adding the share button to the toolbar. It would be nice to customize the order of the favorites, collections, and share buttons via drag and drop.
- Thanks for the update, patiently waiting for the sync options to get back to the normal state 🙂

The "Send Feedback" feature still gives me a black screenshot, on my laptops and VMs, running Edge Dev, Beta and Canary. Is this something on your list of known issues and can we expect a fix soon?
There is still a bug on Edge://Settings/Privacy, the Internet Explorer "Choose what to clear" button is not blue like the other button.

Having the same exact problem on many machines. it started few months ago, reported multiple times, still not fixed.
since then I fresh reinstalled my Windows multiple times.
at first when I fresh install Edge canary, it is okay but after few days the screenshot area turns black and stays that way. the only solution I found is to delete the user profile in Edge.

Tom_Fox I haven't seen the screenshot issue with the feedback tool, but looks like HotCakeX might be running into it, too! What you can do is use a screenshot tool (I use Snipping Tool) to capture and save that image, then submit feedback about it. When you click the "diagnostic data" link in that feedback box, you can add additional screenshots.

yes it's actually an old issue, first posted about it in 9/2019
https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/discussions/bug-send-feedback-function-inside-edge-insider-ca...
tested it on Windows 10 pro, stable, fast ring, Windows Server, it happens every time..

Must be on your end, as I have no issues with both, and never seen this before on all my devices since the start of the beta.
Maybe a reset or reinstall just to test?

These are cool changes. I never really used the share feature, but it seems to have potential.
I tried out the hide feature and it seems like a great way to un-clutter the toolbar. My only thought is that new users won't know anything about this and a bunch of other things.
Y'all should create a tutorial when people first use edge so that they know that these things are there.
- MissyQMicrosoft
cjc2112 I really like this idea. I will jot this down as a potential series we do later. We've floated the idea around about maybe doing a podcast or something like that, so this seems like it would fit into that really well. Appreciate the kind words, keep the feedback coming!
(To note: Floating ideas around doesn't mean it's happening. It's just stuff we've brought up on the team.)

Serious question, and it sounds bad but hear me out.
I think that Microsoft should stop making changes to the chromium code for a while.
Google is starting to show its true colors(anyone surprised) and pushing people to download chrome if you visit any of their sites using misinformation and misleading at best claims.
Making changes to the code will make it harder for people to find differences in the browsers and hard for edge to keep its personality.
In other words, Google should not be rewarded for anti-competitive behavior. Can you please hold off on more chromium changes for a while and focus those efforts on making the browser better.
Thanks for listening
