We're Listening!
Greetings Microsoft Edge Insiders!
Let us start off by saying, welcome to the Microsoft Edge Insider community! We’re so excited to have you here, and we can’t wait to start learning from you. If you haven’t read our Welcome to the Microsoft Edge Insider community article yet, we recommend starting there. It has a bunch of great information on how we got here and where we’re heading.
Our mission:
Our mission is to create a thriving community of valuable Insiders, like you, so we can closely listen and learn how Microsoft Edge can be better. We believe that having open, honest, and continued conversations with our Insider community is a great way to build a close relationship with our users.
Why do all of this? Because we want to build a browser that’s deeply grounded in your needs. Your voice is the most important piece of helping us build a better Microsoft Edge. The feedback you provide leads to meaningful conversations that may ultimately produce the new features, bug fixes, and other improvements that matter the most to you. Listening is just the beginning for us. Our true goal is to build Microsoft Edge with the voice of the Insider community as our guiding light.
Community voice
When we announced the next version of Microsoft Edge back in December, we asked a simple question: If you could change one thing about the web, what would it be?
We were completely humbled by the over 40k comments you’ve shared with us. That’s a whole lot of ideas. Thank you!
You tell us that you love some things about the current Microsoft Edge browser, like the smooth scrolling experience, our Fluent Design and the precision touchpad, and you hope we’ll bring those things forward into the next version too.
Some of you are frustrated with the way that sites render so differently depending on the browser you're using to view them. You also tell us that Web Standards are on the top of your mind. We hear that you want all browsers to adopt the same standards. We hear from some of you web developers that you want new capabilities added to the web platform; whether that be in CSS, HTML or JavaScript. Another top request is an improved dev tools experience.
We hear that you have strong feelings about online advertising. Some of you wish ads that pop-up would just disappear and the same for auto-playing ads. While others feel a strong desire to remove or fundamentally change how online advertising works on the web. There is concern how these advertisements enable sites to track you as you browse which feels "creepy" and "invasive."
The overwhelming majority of comments (we’re talking thousands of messages) that we have read wish for a change in the fundamental attributes of the web. Make it faster, safer, more reliable and more private. You want your browsers to have smaller memory footprints, lower battery consumption, higher rendering speed and better stability. We agree with you wholeheartedly! The attributes that you say matter most in your browsing experience are performance, privacy, and reliability. So that is where we are starting.
We are focusing on delivering outstanding fundamentals. Speed, stability, accessibility, compatibility, security, and privacy are always top of mind for us. We are using your comments and suggestions to guide us while we are getting the new Microsoft Edge ready for its debut.
What’s next?
In the meantime, jump in, download the Microsoft Edge Insider Channels, and let us know what you think. What’s working well? Where do we need to improve? Over time, we hope to build healthy engagement and feedback loops with our community members.
We’re also mindful that our users have preferred ways to engage with us. Whether you view the latest information on the Microsoft Edge Insider website, enjoy direct discussions on our forum, need a personal support assistant via help (F1), share your feedback and suggestions via the smiley face, or just want to give us a shout on Twitter, we’re always listening and looking for ways to reach out wherever our users feel most comfortable and prefer to talk to us. We’re all ears!
Thank you for being here. We look forward to listening and engaging with you.

- coolcityCopper ContributorFor me the biggest thing I would like to see is inking returning. although this won't affect most people who don't have a touchscreen or use the function, the best thing for me was being able to markup and annotate web pages in Edge using the Microsoft Pen. First you went and changed the Pen so it was no longer possible to select a section of text simply by gliding over it (you can still do so by holding the button in on the Pen but it's far more fiddly to do so), then to add insult to injury you removed the very useful pocket clip AND doubled the price of the Pen. (I note there were other improvements but only really useful to those in design work). Now inking has gone too, though I'm sure it's in the pipeline for a reappearance at some point, but for me it's been a massive backward step removing the aforementioned Pen functionality, and now reinventing the browser but without what for me was one of it's best features. Almost feels like we're going backwards, uninventing these features and functions. - I agree with you, for a final and first stable version release, they should have at least waited until the new Edge gets all the same features and functionalities as Edge classic and then released it, probably few months later.

- aminmzeCopper Contributorhi Eliot i think he weakness of windows always have been it's browser.at the first "internet explorer" and then "MS edge" but since i installed beta edge chromium , i stopped working with "Google Chrome" and "Mozilla Firefox" and i do everything i need with "edge chromium" thank u Microsoft Looking forward to see ultimate version of this powerful browser - Before Chrome, Internet Explorer had around 95% market share and was called flag ship.- Mike999Brass ContributorHotCakeX Yes as it was a part of the OS. Then, in 2009, the EU stipulated that this wasn't allowed anymore and MS had to offer a choice. Not doing so resulted in a fine of 730 million dollars (2013). Way back in 2004 MS was already fined for close to 500 million, because of the integrated Windows Media Player On top they were fined for 1.35 billion for using high prices (2008) Yes, the EU likes fines, so it seems. Personally I had no problems with the integrated IE and/or Media Player. They seamlessly worked together. If users nonetheless wished to use another browser, fine, go ahead and install Firefox, Chrome or whatever. I used Firefox, tweaking settings and so on. However, for newbies or elderly people or the ones that simply aren't interested in 3rd party software, well, the built in stuff usually was okay. Until the EU felt it wasn't okay... Ah well, anyway ... just my 2cts

- fahad730Copper ContributorHello. I will love to see functionality from old edge to add sticky notes like notes in pdf.
- fahad730Copper ContributorElliot Kirkjust hope that new edge brings same functionality for pdf files as before In Edge. If that happens, my problem to switch between browsers, chrome and edge, will be gone. - Hi,
any particular functionality you are looking for?

- Thera24Copper ContributorElliot KirkNot a feedback, but an Idea: Make Microsoft Edge Insider Microsoft Wave, to differentiate from Edge and make people believe that it is not an upgrade or extension from Edge. It also fits more because of the icon's design and the fact that "Its a wave of the web's ocean" Support this reply and maybe Edge Insider will become Microsoft Wave. - Spoiler

Or maybe Edge Anaheim, it's original code name which sounds more beautifully imo.
- GrahamJockeyIron ContributorI would rather they call the channels "first wave, second wave" etc. but keep it as "Edge".
Aside, I like that ideas are being bounced around, when most people are just saying things like "Edge doesn't fill my niche needs or live up to my high expectations". (although that is useful and necessary for the devs, it has its place.)
I wish there were a forum for concepts and ideas.- Totally agree, Edge insider's community needs an "Ideas" section just like many other communities in here. - though I think a bug tracker or feature tracker would be more efficient since it would make developer's job easier too to find out how many people want a feature.

- PeteMSTechComBrass ContributorInstalled most recent Edge Dev but it's completely unusable on several Surfaces, freezes on Type Cover close, kills any keyboard/touch input in classic Edge Application Guard window, drains battery in sleep, doesn't suspend properly, every now and then kills face unlock and other sensors in device manager. Once fully uninstalled everything goes back to normal. Missing plenty of inking features, no favourites sync with IE. Is much slower than the classic Edge. No privacy options/app permissions in Windows Settings. On LTE devices keeps loosing Internet while travelling, where the classic Edge is fine. Overall experience very negative, too many issues. Is it ever going to be as good as the classic Edge?

The should be an option to sync and edit favourites between browsers on a local basis (device, LAN, Bluetooth, WiFi, etc), without resourcing to cloud.

Wow, Pete, this different, bizarre and sad. Which Channel is behaving like this? Maybe, remove it & grab a new Download & install that. It's just odd one person can be problem-free & impressed & then, there's your experience. I find Edge C much fast to load than Edge HTML. It is missing Add notes & what the Favorites icon gives is less than expected & unappealing how Favs are handled. "No privacy options/app permissions in Windows Settings." Actually, yes, there are. There are, no denying it, some Feature issues, but, most are finding its performance better than anything.
 Cheers,
Drew- PeteMSTechComBrass ContributorI tried Dev on several different Surface machines (Pro 5 LTE, Pro 6, 3 LTE, Go LTE) all of them on most recent W10 OS 1909 18363.476 with the same experience across all of them. Edge C freezing most of the time on Type Cover close, once reopened and logged in Edge C unresponsive. Edge C messing up face unlock, although in it's privacy setting camera and microphone access is disabled, every now and then on start of it the IR camera red light weirdly lights up and remains on until the browser is closed!!! When minimized for a longer period of time doesn't suspend and resumes properly like classic Edge. When completely closed Edge C doesn't update adblocker lists in the background like the classic Edge does. In the Windows Settings app Privacy section there is no a single slider related to Edge C. And the worse is messing up the Application Guard for classic Edge.
