Price increase D365, impact on Base/Attach model?
- Oct 09, 2024
Update on the licensing guide shows that there's no impact on the Base/Attach model. There's now an exception made on the model, were D365 BC Premium is still eligible as a Base license for the more expensive D365 Sales/Service Enterprise licenses.
Which is fine, but also really confusing for customers when they're new to D365 licenses. Not really ideal when D365 licensing is already complex for the average customer, that even basic rules are getting exceptions.
Nick_Beacroft I expect so too. But if anything is changed, definitely for existing customers using the base/attach model, it would be great to know the impact beforehand. But alas, we'll need to wait.
@LicensingConcierge1; just to jump in on this reply, as this is simply wrong:
Looks like you're comparing the price of the two base licenses
This is exactly how this rule works. You should compare the prices of the base licenses of both modules to know which can be the attach license. The most expensive base license should be purchased as base, the cheaper base license can then be purchased as attach.
and not factoring in the new attach license price for Sales Enterprise attach. Please review the snapshot below. You can find the full pdf in Partner Center.
So this is not how it works. You should not compare the Base to Attach prices, because attach is always cheaper then any base license. Like mentioned you should compare the Base prices of both modules.
An example; you can do Finance ($210) as a base license and attach a Sales Enterprise license ($105), as the Finance base is more expensive than the Sales Enterprise base.
But you can't do Sales Enterprise license ($105) as base and Finance ($30) as attach. Even though Finance attach is just $30, the Finance base is more expensive to Sales Enterprise, thus Finance needs to be the base were Sales Enterprise is attached to.

dpeavy THANK YOU for pointing this out. Can you tell me which link exactly is broken? I couldn't find the one you were referring to. Thank you kindly!
- dpeavyAug 21, 2024Copper ContributorThank you, I had seen this but there is no mention of Attach license price increases, so I assume there isn't going to be one. By the way, the links at the end of the blog post go to 404 pages.
