Cant access admin panel

Hi Everyone,

I have done something really silly and I don't mind if I get a laugh or two,

I have locked myself out of our two admin accounts due to both had 2FA on and the phone that the notifications went to sadly has been reformated without the person checking with me first,

I have an E5 Licence but without being able to access the admin page I can't access support to get this resolved 😞 - I'm kind of stuck and at the moment even though we only have a few licenses (mix of E5and F3)

Feeling really silly about this but if anyone has an idea of how I can resolve this I would be really grateful

Joe

Did you setup alternative email address and a mobile phone number for those accounts?

If not and we are the only person to keep the admin, you need to contact Microsoft support

I'm in a similar boat.  I'm the only global admin to our company's new microsoft account.  I have set up an alternate email and mobile phone.  I'm curious what advice you may have, as nothing else has worked.  I can reset my password.  I can enter the codes I receive on the alternate email and mobile phone, but microsoft authenticator still automatically generates a number for me to put in the app that doesn't recognize my microsoft account.

        Hi Tizard_Bates ,

I recorded a quick video that walks through your exact situation.

If you’re the only global admin and locked out, unfortunately the only way forward is to reach out to Microsoft Support ... either by having someone with an active Microsoft 365 account open a ticket on your behalf (with your contact details) or by calling Microsoft support directly.

They’ll escalate to the Data Protection Team, who will verify your identity and help you regain access.

In the video, I also show how to set up a free backup admin account so this situation doesn’t happen again in the future.

        🎥 Here’s the video: https://youtu.be/K1-p7DsZfjc

Hope this helps and wishing you a quick resolution.

        Best,
