Get Started with the Microsoft Nonprofit Technology Acceleration (NTA) Program

Welcome to the NTA Program – Let’s Get Started!

We’re excited to welcome you to the Microsoft Nonprofit Technology Acceleration (NTA) Program! You’re now part of a vibrant community dedicated to leveraging cutting-edge technology to create meaningful change and amplify impact. Wherever you are in your journey, we’re here to help you navigate the next steps so you can start unlocking and utilizing your benefits right away.

What’s Next for You?

Now that you’ve been approved, it’s time to access your granted offerings. To make the process as smooth as possible, we’ve created personas to guide you based on where you are in your journey. Please follow the instructions under the persona that pertains to you!

Persona 1: Marcy just joined the NTA Program—but hasn’t unlocked her free software licenses yet!


Congratulations on taking the first step! 🎉 You’ve joined the program, but there’s one more exciting milestone waiting for you: unlocking your free software licenses.

Your journey is just beginning, and you have two easy options to access the tools you need:

Option 1: Start with a Free Trial

Need tools fast? Begin with a free trial today! You can seamlessly convert it into a nonprofit account later without losing any progress or settings. Ready to dive in? Check out this helpful guide: [Start Your Free Trial: Unlock Microsoft 365 Business Premium for Nonprofits | Microsoft Community Hub].

Option 2: Sign Up for Free Nonprofit Offerings

If you’re not in a rush, follow these steps to claim your benefits:

  1. Head to the Nonprofit offers and click “Apply” at the bottom of the screen.

2. Complete Steps 1–3, which include:

    • Providing information about yourself and your organization.
    • Setting up your free nonprofit account.

Important Tips:

    • On the “Tell us about your organization” page, make sure to include the full URL of your website, starting with https://.
    • When creating your account, write down your username (ending in .onmicrosoft.com)—you’ll need it later to access your benefits.

Note: The approval process may take up to 10 days. Keep an eye on your email for any requests for additional information or your approval confirmation.

Persona 2: Shelly joined the NTA program, but her organization is already using a paid version of M365. Can she convert her existing paid account to a nonprofit account to unlock the free software licenses?

She absolutely can! Here's how to convert your existing paid M365 account to a nonprofit account and unlock those free software licenses:

  1. Convert Your Current Account:
  • Head to the Nonprofit offers and click “Apply” at the bottom of the screen.
  • Select the “Convert” option at the top of the screen to change your existing paid account to a nonprofit account using your current tenant ID (you can find this in Microsoft Entra please see notes under “Important Notes.”)

2. Keep Using Your Existing Account:

  •  Continue working with your current account while your nonprofit account is being processed.

Important Tips:

  • If you don’t have your current tenant ID, you can follow the steps below to obtain it:
    • Go to portal.azure.com
    • Select Microsoft Entra ID (or More Services-> Microsoft Entra ID, if Microsoft Entra is not on your most recent list of services)

          o    You will see your Tenant ID on the Overview tab.

 

Note: The approval process may take up to 10 days. We recommend checking back periodically and keeping an eye on your email for any additional information or your approval email.

Persona 3: Chris has already signed up and been approved for the free software licenses, but he is new to NTA.
