Join us Wednesday, September 9 for an opportunity to "Ask Microsoft Anything" (AMA) about upcoming changes to support for Office 2016 for Mac, Office 2010, and Office 2013 connectivity to Office 365 services. The AMA will take place from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Pacific Time in the https://aka.ms/OfficeEOSAMA. To join, simply visit the Office End of Support AMA space at 9:00 a.m. PDT and submit a question by selecting Start a new conversation—then do this for each new question. More Information On October 13, 2020, Office 2016 for Mac and Office 2010 reach their end of support. After that date, Microsoft will no longer provide technical support, bug fixes, or security updates for either version. Also, as previously https://www.microsoft.com/microsoft-365/blog/2017/04/20/office-365-proplus-updates/, after October 13, 2020, customers will need to be using Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise, Office 2019, or https://www.microsoft.com/microsoft-365/blog/2018/09/06/helping-customers-shift-to-a-modern-desktop/ in order to connect to Office 365 services. Microsoft will not take any active measures to block older versions of the Office client from connecting to Office 365 services, but these legacy clients may encounter performance and/or reliability issues over time. What is an AMA? An AMA is a live, online, text-based question-and-answer event similar to a "YamJam" on Yammer or an "Ask Me Anything" on Reddit. Can’t attend at 9:00 AM Pacific Time? While we’ll only be answering questions in real-time from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Pacific Time, you can post your questions for the AMA to the https://aka.ms/OfficeEOSAMA in the Office End of Support Tech Community up to 24 hours in advance.Dylan_SnodgrassAug 03, 2020Silver Contributor2.7KViews0likes0CommentsEnd of Support for Exchange Summary
Just a summary of some of the important things you might want to know about End of Support for all things Exchange. Exchange Server 2010 - We pushed the date for the end of extended support from Jan 2020 to October 2020, and announced that here - https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/exchange-team-blog/microsoft-extending-end-of-support-for-exchange-server-2010-to/ba-p/753591 We have no plans to extend that any further, so if you still have Exchange Server 2010 in use - you need to get moving. It won't stop working in October but we won't be releasing any more updates, security or time zone patches. We also recently posted information to help decommission Exchange 2010 once you have removed all the mailboxes and public folders - https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/exchange-team-blog/best-practices-when-decommissioning-exchange-2010/ba-p/1247559 Exchange Online and Basic Authentication is another important one to know about. We will be turning off Basic Authentication in Exchange Online in the future. If you hadn't heard about this take a look at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/exchange-team-blog/improving-security-together/ba-p/805892 and that post will provide the background. What's changed most recently is we extended the timeline, and we talked about that here - https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/exchange-team-blog/basic-authentication-and-exchange-online-april-2020-update/ba-p/1275508 and we added OAuth 2.0 support to IMAP and SMTP AUTH and talked about that here - https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/exchange-team-blog/announcing-oauth-2-0-support-for-imap-and-smtp-auth-protocols-in/ba-p/1330432 Those are the big pieces of news, feel free to ask a question about any of that here, or once we're done, over in the Exchange Community.Greg Taylor - EXCHANGEMay 05, 2020Microsoft1KViews5likes0Comments
