Czech translation issue in Windows 11 setup – misleading Disk/Partition labels
Description: There is a translation issue in the Czech version of Windows 11 setup, still present in the latest 25H2 build. In the installation screen where the user selects the target disk/partition, the terms Disk and Partition are swapped in Czech. English: Disk 0 Partition 1 Current Czech: Oddíl 0 disku 1 Correct Czech: Disk 0, oddíl 1 In Czech, "Oddíl" means "Partition" and "Disk" means the same as in English ("Disk"). The incorrect word order is confusing and could easily lead to a mistake, especially on systems with multiple physical drives. In the worst case, a user might delete or format the wrong partition. I attached screenshots comparing English and Czech versions for clarity. Expected translation: Disk 0, oddíl 1 Disk 0, oddíl 2 (MSR vyhrazené) Disk 0, oddíl 3 (Primární) This issue has been present since 24H2 and is still not corrected in 25H2. Correcting this would significantly improve clarity and prevent possible data loss during installation.TomasTrutnovOct 03, 2025Copper Contributor51Views0likes4CommentsHow to fix:Windows corrupt user profile(I suspect)
I am pretty sure I have corrupt local user on my main PC. There are programs that when I search for from start menu, and click on them, they don’t launch. If I scroll the start menu to find those programs and launch that way, they work. I also have couple of programs that refuse either to authenticate through their servers to let me log into them or launch all together. Those issues are solved as soon as I log into another local user. What I’ve tried: SFC/DISM Windows updates Driver updates Disk cleanup as well as cache Deleting everything, as well as registry entries to said programs that refuse to cooperate. Restarting explorer.exe for the start menu search anomaly My question right now is more so, if anyone can confirm my suspicions as well as, what’s the easiest way to migrate all the data from one account to another. My main concern are any saved configurations in all the programs I’ve used for 6 years on this build and also anything in appdata/documents that those programs might’ve stored there. I have written down everything I can think of backing up for past couple of months, and yet I’m still afraid I’ve missed something.EliaspefoSep 28, 2025Iron Contributor29Views0likes1CommentFree and or FOSS Photo Manager for Windows computer
I have traditionally used photoprism as a photomanager. The issue is I either have to use Windows computer or have access to my nas to bulk upload photos. Android and iPhone have an app that upload camera pics. I cannot find a program that uploads photos to photoprism. The way it works is you have to transfer to a import fold on desktop. But if I have a remote user that want to upload, they do not have access to my import directory. As I said there is a mobile app that can connect directly to photoprism. But there is no windows app as far as I can tell.SyamterSep 28, 2025Iron Contributor12Views0likes0CommentsGetting Outlook contacts from savefiles
I am currently working as a private support technician and today someone walked in with a Windows 10 PC that would not boot. After trying to repair Windows we decided to make a Backup from the whole hard drive and reinstall Windows. We reinstalled all his programs. Also Office. We set up the IMAP and SMTP Servers correctly but we are not sure if he was using Pop3 or IMAP we decided on setting up IMAP now. Everything fine. Now he has called us to complain that all his contacts are missing. So I went through the backup but can’t find any contacts. Where does Outlook safe contacts? I tried C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming C:\Users\User\Contacts (Some contacts but not all, the customer says he saved the contacts once manually there to back-up.) Is are there any other location they could be? Thanks for readingBhevesYSep 28, 2025Iron Contributor11Views0likes0CommentsHow to permanently delete files on PC without recovery Windows 11
I’m about to sell my Windows 11 PC and want to make sure my personal files are gone for good. What’s the easiest, non-technical way to delete stuff so it can’t be recovered? I’ve got both an HDD and an SSD—do the steps differ? I’d rather keep Windows if possible (not a full wipe). Also, anything I should clear like OneDrive/File History, and a simple way to double-check the files are really gone before I hand it over?GeraldMartinSep 28, 2025Copper Contributor50Views0likes5CommentsBest way to burn iso to usb on Mac? I need a Windows 11 bootable USB
Hi all, My Windows 11 PC was running into blue screen of death after system update. I tried the troubleshooting method and did not work. Based on my past experience, the best way is to clean install windows 11. However, I don't have a Windows PC at hand. We only have an Apple MacBook Air M4 at home. Unfortunately, the boot camp assistant app is discontinued and this makes the task more challenging for a non tech savvy. If you know a workaround to burn iso to usb on mac, pls kindly let me know. Thank you very much!OregonRainSep 28, 2025Iron Contributor64Views0likes6CommentsText-to-speech app for Windows computer
I’m looking for a good text-to-speech app for Windows 11. I need to convert short texts into audio, and I’ll be doing it regularly, so I don’t mind paying for a quality app with natural-sounding voices. Does anyone here use TTS software they’d recommend? What are the best options in your opinion and what features should I pay attention to when choosing one? Thanks a lot for your help!WokhioskSep 26, 2025Iron Contributor14Views0likes2CommentsStorage Spaces - Stay or move to a new solution?
I’m at a crossroads with my Windows Storage Space Parity volume. I have been using this solution for mostly a media vault for years (2016) with little issues aside from slow writes. A few years ago I upgraded to Server 2019 and new hardware where I read more on how to properly set up a parity storage space in PowerShell. This seemed to resolve my write issue for a while but for some reason it is back.HupixdelSep 26, 2025Iron Contributor11Views0likes0CommentsNeed Advice on Voice Clone AI. Is free online voice cloning safe?
Alright, so I've fallen deep into the AI voice cloning rabbit hole. I've seen the memes, the deepfakes, and the custom text-to-speech stuff, and it's time for me to get in on this. The tech has gotten insane. But holy crap, the voice clone ai options are overwhelming. Every time I think I've found the best one, I see a post **bleep** on it and praising some other tool. My YouTube algorithm is having a meltdown. So, cutting through the hype: what are you all actually using for this? I need the real-world scoop.SyamterSep 26, 2025Iron Contributor36Views0likes8Comments
