Converting Youtube to Mp3 and similar styles posts
Over the last few months we have seen an increase in posts to the Microsoft Tech Community requesting help to extract or convert media hosted on 3rd party sites to mp3 files. To help keep the Microsoft Tech Community focused, secure, and compliant, we want to clarify our position on posts that request help or advice on extracting audio or video content from commercial or third‑party websites. 🚫 Why these requests are not allowed Many commercial websites explicitly prohibit the downloading, extraction, or reuse of their audio and video content without permission. Requests for assistance with bypassing, avoiding, or undermining these restrictions typically violate the Terms of Use of those services. Examples of such terms can be found here: YouTube – Terms of Service: https://www.youtube.com/t/terms Netflix – Terms of Use: https://help.netflix.com/legal/termsofuse BBC Sounds / iPlayer – Terms of Use: https://www.bbc.co.uk/terms (This list is not exhaustive; most commercial streaming and media platforms have similar restrictions.) 🧹 How these posts are handled in Microsoft Tech Community As a result: Posts requesting guidance on extracting, downloading, or reusing audio or video from commercial sites are considered off topic. Such posts will be removed and treated as spam. Repeated or serious misuse may result in further action, including restrictions or removal of access to the Microsoft Tech Community. ✅ What is in scope for the Microsoft Tech Community The Microsoft Tech Community exists to help members: Share best practices, technical examples, and real‑world experience Learn and collaborate around Microsoft products and services Discuss supported APIs, tools, and features within the bounds of applicable terms, licences, and policies If you have questions about legitimate media handling scenarios using Microsoft technologies (for example, working with content you own rights to, or using supported Microsoft services such as Azure Media Services, Stream, or Graph APIs), those discussions are welcome. 🙏 Thank you Thank you for helping keep the Microsoft Tech Community a safe, focused, and trusted place for technical collaboration. Hello everyone! I am a beginner and I wanted to run a Windows 11 VM on Hyper‑V to test Windows in a virtual environment. Since my device only has 8 GB RAM (with Windows itself using ~50%), it took some effort to get the VM up and running. Windows 11 requires 4 GB startup memory, and I kept hitting the “not enough memory” error. This post is my contribution so you don’t have to go through the same struggle! Windows 11 Requirements on Hyper‑V 4 virtual processors 4096 MB (4 GB) RAM 64 GB storage Secure Boot with Trusted Platform Module (TPM) enabled Things You’ll Need Hyper‑V Manager https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/virtualization/hyper-v/host-hardware-requirements?pivots=windows Windows 11 ISO https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11 Step 1: Creating the VM In Hyper‑V Manager: Actions → New Virtual Machine Set Name and Location Choose Generation 2 Set Startup Memory: 4096 MB Configure Networking: Default Switch Create Virtual Hard Disk: minimum 64 GB Under Installation Options, select “Install an operating system from a bootable image file” and browse for the Windows 11 ISO. Finish setup. Step 2: Configuring the VM Right‑click the VM → Settings Under Security, ensure Secure Boot is checked (default). Enable Trusted Platform Module (TPM). Apply changes. Step 3: Getting the VM to Start Here’s where the issue begins. On an 8 GB host, starting the VM with 4 GB allocated often fails with a memory error. Windows setup requires 4 GB RAM initially. After installation, you can safely reduce the VM’s memory to 2048 MB (2 GB) and enable Dynamic Memory for efficiency. This way, the VM boots with less pressure and grows as needed. Workaround: Freeing Memory To make sure Hyper‑V has enough contiguous RAM (~4100 MB), I did the following: Closed all apps on the taskbar except Hyper‑V. Opened Resource Monitor (instead of Task Manager). Closed apps in the system tray (except Defender). In Resource Monitor → Memory tab, sorted processes by Working Set (KB). Ended non‑essential processes until at least 4100 MB available RAM was shown. Unsafe to End (avoid terminating these) System processes: svchost.exe, lsass.exe, wininit.exe, csrss.exe Hyper‑V services: vmms.exe, vmcompute.exe Antivirus/security: MsMpEng.exe (Windows Defender) Drivers and background services (audio, network, GPU helpers) Windows Update components Generally Safe to End (if not needed) Web browsers: chrome.exe, msedge.exe, firefox.exe Office apps: winword.exe, excel.exe, powerpnt.exe Media players: spotify.exe Game launchers: steam.exe, epicgameslauncher.exe Updaters: Adobe/game patchers Cloud sync clients: onedrive.exe, dropbox.exe, googledrive.exe Chat apps: teams.exe, skype.exe, discord.exe msedgewebview2.exe (WebView2 runtime for apps like Teams/Outlook) explorer.exe (you’ll lose desktop/taskbar until restarted) Booting Connect to the VM first before clicking Start. If you see >>Start PXE over IPv4 and keys don’t respond Turn off the VM then click Start, make sure to hold a key after you click start. You can most likely proceed now onto setting up Windows If stuck at a background with “ENG, Accessibility, Power” icons but no login box: In the VM connection window → View → uncheck Enhanced Session. This reveals the login screen. After setup: Shut down the VM. In settings, reduce memory to 2048 MB. Restart your host. Now Windows 11 runs in Hyper‑V on an 8 GB RAM without constant memory errors!35Views0likes0CommentsEDM Classifier in Microsoft Purview: No Match Detected After Successful Indexing
Hello everyone, I’m working on an Exact Data Match (EDM) classifier in Microsoft Purview using the new experience, and I’m facing an issue where the classifier does not return any matches during testing, even though all steps were completed successfully. What I Did Created EDM Classifier: Primary element: CPF (ndodocumentodeidentificacao), with ignored delimiters (.,-). Text fields configured as case-insensitive. Phone field configured to ignore spaces and hyphens. Detection Rules: High Confidence: CPF + Name + Email + Phone. Medium Confidence: CPF + Name OR Email. Proximity: default (300 characters), Wide Mode. Downloaded schema, ran ValidateData → Passed. Performed hash and upload using EdmUploadAgent.exe → Completed successfully. Status in Purview: Index Complete. The Problem When I test using EDM Classifier Test with a .docx file containing exactly one row from the original CSV (CPF, Name, Email, Phone, etc.), the results are: Base SIT (Brazil CPF) detects the CPF. EDM SIT → No match detected. What I’ve Verified Document saved as a real .docx (not just renamed). Data matches the CSV exactly (same formatting, same delimiters). Indexing status shows Complete. Questions Has anyone experienced this issue? Could this be related to tokenization, proximity, or confidence rules? Are there any additional configurations or limitations I should be aware of? Environment Microsoft Purview (new EDM experience). EDMUploadAgent installed on Windows Server. CSV file: UTF-8, comma-delimited, header matches schema. Any insights or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated!20Views0likes0CommentsLogins via the Network Policy Server (NPS) fail.
Hello folks, Hope you are doing well and great. I have trouble with Certificate Authentication in our network environment. Let's explain in detail: 1- Our clients have a user certificate and a computer certificate issued by the Internal CA. 2-Clients try to connect to the NPS via wireless. 3-NPS communicates with the local Domain Controller and authenticates clients. Everything is ok so far. Once we decided to update one of our domain controllers to the latest patches and security updates, after a while we faced the above error on NPS, hence I have changed the DNS and functionality of NPS to another DC which isn't updated. After almost one month, we faced the above error on some sites. I have to emphasize on those sites, we have a local DC that wasn't updated, so we expected that the issue was not related to the update or any KB. After digging into this error and conducting research on the Internet, I realized the issue is related to the specific KB Microsoft release in May 2022 that affects certificate authentication. I know the best solution is updating all DCs, but for now it isn't possible for us, so I decided to find a solution temporarily to ignore this security issue, I have done all the solutions that were recommended on the Internet, but the issue still exists. Now, are there any solutions to fix the problem except updating all DCs? By the way, I found this link but I couldn't find workaround to fix the problem: https://www.gradenegger.eu/en/logins-via-the-network-policy-server-nps-fail-with-reason-authentication-failed-due-to-a-user-credentials-mismatch-either-the-user-name-provided-does-no/32Views0likes0CommentsHP Pavilion Laptop 15-eg2xxx Not Showing in Microsoft Account Devices
Hi, Everyone. I’m facing an issue where my HP Pavilion Laptop 15-eg2xxx isn’t showing up under the “Devices” section of my Microsoft account at account.microsoft.com/devices, even though I’m signed in with my Microsoft account and services like OneDrive and Microsoft Store are working fine. I’ve tried restarting, checking for updates, and signing out/in again, but no success. I’ve also contacted Microsoft Support and was given Case Number 7087906943, but the issue is still unresolved. Hoping someone here can help me figure out what’s going wrong or suggest next steps. Thanks in advance!19Views0likes0CommentsPost submitted on Sept 27 — still not publicly visible

I need help getting a refund from Microsoft for the Teams Phone service that has not been provided for 6 weeks. What Happened: Paid for Teams Phone - Domestic Calling 6 weeks ago Cannot activate due to Microsoft's broken domain verification process Multiple support agents across different teams - all incompetent Microsoft admits their phone services are "not operational" with no ETA Current Situation: Agent took ownership of refund request days ago Complete radio silence since claiming it was "escalated" Still being charged for a service I cannot use due to Microsoft's own system failures What I Need: How to actually get a refund processed from Microsoft? Escalation contacts for refund issues? Anyone successfully gotten refunds for unusable Microsoft services? For reference I’m using a Fiiok11 and for some odd reason when I’m in game, maybe every 1-2 minutes, the audio randomly goes noticeably quieter, makes a clicking sound then back to normal. I’ve checked and I’m not hammering the disc or CPU so I have no idea? Might it be a driver issue? I’ve tested on usb C and all good. The amp only has one usb C port so I’m not a fan of having to keep unplugging it for different devices24Views0likes0Comments(URGENT!!) I fell for a phishing scam and ended up losing access to my Microsoft account.
Earlier today (9/13/2025) I ended up falling for a phishing scam via Discord, which ended up having me lose most if not all access to my Microsoft account. What I do know is that they changed the primary email, so my original email no longer works, and that there's a high possibility that they've sold it to a third party based on what they were saying. I was unable to make the automated recovery work because of the original email being changed. I'd hope to possibly get more assistance on this issue, I'll attempt to provide as much proof that I'm the original owner of the account based on my account history as: Original email address Last known password Approximated account creation date Details of my purchases Any assistance on how to proceed with this issue would be greatly appreciated!! Because I have quite a few personal details there that are sensitive. Thank you.54Views0likes0CommentsBackground Removal or Replacement for Studio effects
i think one BIG missing feature for studio effects is the absence of Background removal or replacement, for content creators it is very useful because we use the feature every day, and tools in OBS does not lean on the NPU thereby reducing battery life most persons use Nvidia Broadcast simply because of their amazing Background replacement what we need for windows effects is a full featured app like the poly camera pro you find in HP laptops, having something as featured like that as the default studio effects app for windows would be awesome. Microsoft please add this, you already have background blur so removing the background should not be much work i believe Thanks21Views0likes0CommentsTeams/Authenticator loop issue

Title: File Explorer search box “sparkle” animation — please add a toggle / respect Animation effects Who thought it was a good idea to add a sparkly magnifying-glass animation in the File Explorer search box? It’s very distracting (a strong exogenous / stimulus-driven attention trigger). Is there a way to disable it, or can we get a toggle? Video (shows the animation): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvN7ouOXTy0 Steps to reproduce: 1) Open File Explorer → the magnifying glass plays a sparkly animation Expected: With “Animation effects” off, the search UI should remain static. Actual: The sparkle animation still plays even with animations disabled. Workarounds tried: - Settings > Accessibility > Visual effects > Animation effects = Off - Performance Options: unchecked “Animate controls and elements inside windows” - Restarted Explorer / rebooted → Animation persists. Request for Support – Hosting Microsoft Certification Programs
Hello Microsoft Partner Community, My company as a Microsoft Partner is planning to host a series of certification programs focused on Microsoft technologies, particularly Azure, Copilot and Copilot for Microsoft 365. These programs are aimed at educating and onboarding executives and decision-makers from various organizations. We would appreciate guidance on the following: What types of support are available to Microsoft Partners who are organizing certification or skilling events? Can we request free or trial user accounts for Azure and Copilot 365? Since these are paid services, we’d like to offer hands-on experience to participants especially executives before they commit to adoption. Are we allowed to use Microsoft branding (e.g., logos, product names) in our certification materials and promotional content? Can we include “Microsoft” in the name of our certification program, or co-brand it in any way? Is it possible to have our courses accredited, endorsed, or recognized by Microsoft in any official capacity? Are there existing frameworks or programs (e.g., Microsoft Learn, Applied Skills, or Microsoft Certifications) that we can align with or integrate into our offerings? We’re excited about the opportunity to promote Microsoft technologies and would love to ensure our programs are aligned with Microsoft’s standards and best practices. Looking forward to your guidance and support. Best, Eli from MKC60Views0likes0Comments
