universal print
58 TopicsSecure release QR code from iPad
We have successfully configure universal print and have secure release setup. This is working fine from an android phone and iPhone using the M365 app which needs to be installed. Scan the QR code, finds the printer and job is released. However when scanning the QR code from an iPad using the same version of the M365 app this doesn't work. The QR scan opens the M365 app but doesn't find the printers as it does on the mobile versions. It just lands on the co-pilot page. If you scan the QR code from the iPad and get safari to open the link, rather than M365 Co pilot app, but I get the message "Currently secure release of print jobs is not supported on this device" Can I confirm that this is not supported from an iPad as it works from an iPhone on the same software version. Will support be added to the M365 Copilot for iPad release. IOS says it is supported but not clear if this is only Phones that are supported? Are there plans to bring the same File >Print experience from the Excel web app to the other 365 web apps (e.g. Word) for printing to universal print cloud printers? Choosing the print option from Excel produces a sidebar with a drop-down selector that shows every Universal printer the user has access to. There's no need to add the printer to the host OS first. In contrast, choosing File >Print from the Word web app renders a PDF and then uses the browser's native print UI to select from a choice of local-only printers. There is no option to access cloud printers unless they've first been added to the local system. On a Windows device this is merely an inconvenience but on a ChromeOS device this means the difference between being able to print and not. There is a work around available, you can use the OneDrive web client to print a Word document. The OneDrive web client does at least offer the ability to search for (and print to) any the Universal printers you have access to, and does not first require they be configured as local printer. But the UI is objectively worse than the Excel print UI which will show you your entire list of available printers. The OneDrive web client requires that you know a portion of the device name to first perform a search for it. The Word web app doesn't even give you that option, there's no option to print to a cloud printer. The Excel print UI needs to be incorporated into any/all of the 365 web apps that support printing.155Views0likes1CommentRemove Printers from clients?
We deploy printers with Intune. It works well. But how do we remove a printer from a client PC after is it decommissioned and physically removed? It does not seem to be removed when not published with Intune anymore? Is a Powershell script needed to remove the Printer and corresponding Port??125Views0likes1CommentUniversal Print with multiple work accounts often not working
Hello everyone, we are currently in a carve out situation and are building up our own infrastructure, mainly relying on M365. In the further text I will refer to us as "Company M" and the company we are getting carved out from is "Company F". We are rolling out Entra ID joined clients to our users and also adopted to universal print utilizing several Kyocery printers natively supporting Universal Print. We registered the devices successfully and roll out this printers via an Intune policy using Printer Provisioning specifying the Share ID, CloudDevice ID and Printer Shared Name. This works so far... However as mentioned we as Company M are in the process of a Carve Out from Company F. We need to add our still existing account from Company F as "Work or School" account to our clients (which are entra ID joined with Company M, and the users are of course signing on with the account of Company M). Unfortunately, this causes universal print errors. The user tries to print, but the print job gets stuck on the client and does not arrive at UP. We see Errors in the Event Log like: SetChannelAuth failed when sending SendIppPrinterRequest request. hr: 0x8001012d APMon.dll The users also receive Authentication Popups for the Account with "Company F" unable to select an option to switch to a different account when trying to troubleshoot the printing (not sure what exactly they click). Also when this issue happens the users are also not able to add the Printer via the settings app. Normally I would click Add Printer, and select "Work or School"... also in this case we get an Authentication Popup for the "Company F" User, unable to select anything to switch the "Company M" User, where Universal Print is hosted. If we fully remove the Company F user, universal print works normally, but this is not an option at the moment, as we need to access one specific app from company F for a while, and this needs the device to be registered (and approved afterwards) in their tenant. If we would remove and readd the account, we would still need to have the device approved again by Company F as it gets a new Device Object in THEIR Entra ID. I know a bit complicated, but I have no influence on what Company F does. However this seems to be some sort of bug in Universal Print that sometimes it uses the correct account and printing works, and sometimes it switches to the other account and does not work, throwing errors like the one above.884Views0likes2CommentsNot able to Register Universal Print ready printers
Hello, we have purchased three Canon C1333iF printers to use Microsoft Universal Print. These printers are Universal Print ready printers. We get an error message when we click register on the printer's online portal. Information such as the App ID, registration URL, and authentication URL are pre-populated by Canon. Canon support says that the error is with Microsoft. Attached I am sending a screenshot of the printer's Universal Print setting configuration. We can rule out the following: We can rule out a license and permissions issue, as we can't even get to the user account prompt. We can also rule out a network problem, as we have already tested this via a mobile hotspot. I would be very grateful for any hints and tips. regards Lucas2.9KViews0likes11Comments
