Hello Teams Community, I'm seeking information about administrator controls for meeting recordings in Microsoft Teams. Specifically, I want to know: Is there a way for a Microsoft Teams admin to configure the default 'Record automatically' setting for new meetings, so that it is turned on by default, without requiring users to navigate through custom meeting templates? Current Situation: Our organization requires most meetings to be recorded for compliance and documentation purposes Currently, users must manually start recording or remember to enable the "Record automatically" option when scheduling each meeting We're aware that meeting templates can include this setting, but this requires additional steps from our users What We're Looking For: A tenant-wide or admin-level setting to make "Record automatically" the default for all new meetings The ability to apply this setting without users having to select specific meeting templates Ideally, a solution that works when meetings are created from various entry points (Outlook, Teams calendar, etc.) Solutions Already Explored: Custom meeting templates with "Record automatically" enabled (not ideal as it adds steps for users) Meeting policies (haven't found options specific to default recording settings) Has anyone successfully implemented such a configuration, or is this capability currently unavailable in Teams? Any insights from Teams administrators or Microsoft representatives would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help!1.7KViews2likes1CommentDoes anyone know how long it takes for the Teams Update Policy to go into effect?
Hi all, I enabled a Teams Update policy for a couple of users where "Show Teams preview features" = "User can opt in". It's been two days, and the users still can't enable it from ...(more options) > About menu of their Teams desktop client. I had them sign out/sign in, clear Teams cache, check for updates, even reinstalled Teams. I also confirmed the "AllowPublicPreview" parameter in PowerShell = "Enabled". But it's still not showing the "Public preview" option within the About menu on their app for them to select to enable it. (see attached) Thanks!Teams meeting policy mismatch (Outlook and Teams Desktop/Web)
Hello, We are running into a weird issue. There is some mismatch between the policies applied to Outlook Teams Addins and Teams Desktop or Teams Web. For example we have set the Who Can present to Only organizers and co-organizers but when creating a meeting from Teams Desktop or Web, it's set by default to Everyone. Is there any place where I can find log files about changes of the teams policies and assignments of these? From time to time there are assignment changes of policies to users and we'd like to find out who or which app initiates them. I don't see anything within the audit log / azure logs. I found this thread about using CASB?! (which unfortunately is not licensed in our company).1.6KViews0likes1CommentMicrosoft Teams in China
Hello Together, one of our offices is located in China. We would like to enable the use of Microsoft Teams for our employees in CHina. As far as I understand, the technical implementation is currently no longer a problem. The most important thing for me is that our data is not intercepted by the Chinese government. Does anyone have experience with data privacy regarding the use of Teams in China? Thanks5.4KViews0likes1CommentImpact of roadmap change on Teams polices
Microsoft are continuing to deploy a large number of changes to Microsoft Teams. Some of these feature ship with a default as 'switch on' whilst other changes are 'switched off' I am trying to confirm the behaviour of changes that relate to the Teams polices both to the org wide (default) and to custom policies. For example if a new feature in a Teams meeting policy is shipped with a setting on. Will that configuration appear in both the global org wide and also the custom policies. I have a client that want to freeze the policies once agreed and them only change the configuration after internal approval. I can understand the global org wide policies being evergreen as they are the default but am concerned that the custom policies may be evergreen too and and if a feature is shipped switched on by default it will automatically appear in a custom Teams polices rather honouring existing settings. Its not always easy for an organisation to keep on top of the Microsoft road map and it is also difficult for the Microsoft 365 Admins to know when the new functionality will actually land in their tenant so they can check their custom policies and switch feature off. Are there any standard rules on the behaviour on custom policies or are the rules set on each roadmap item?1.7KViews0likes3CommentsWhy I cannot add a policy to user ?
Can anyone please tell me why i cannot assign MS Teams policies to a user as soon as he is created and assigned an MS Teams Exploratory License to him . I have to wait around 2 to 3 minutes after assigning license to him to start assigning policy. Is there any api or cmdlets which can let me know that from now i can start assigning policies to him . I tried retrieving the service status of each service just after assigning license and the teams service is success . Thanks in advance1.3KViews0likes0Comments
