surface dock
3 TopicsSurface dock randomly stops charging Surface Book(s)
So I've been encountering this here and there and have no rhyme or reason or resolution yet. Say I have to move a user's equipment to a new spot (dock, power, laptop etc.) After moving and hooking up everything, normally during that 1st or 2nd week in the new spot they will report that their laptop just alerted them of like 3% battery and that its not charging even though its been being used and on the dock. Everything else plugged into the dock are working fine so they dont notice its not charging until its too late. The light on the dock part plugged into the Surface Book is active and all. Undocking and re-docking does not fix it, rebooting the machine does not fix it. Only unplugging the docking power and plugging into a different outlet will get it to start working, every time. In the beginning i've installed and verified it has the most up to date dock firmware, swapping out docks will obviously "fix" the issue for that situation but its not a full fix moving forward. I've tried different kinds of surge protectors (thinking that was it). But this will still happen, either if they dock at a different dock (other then their own) or i just had a few users a week ago that this happened to and they have been at their spots for months or close to a year! I have no idea what is going on! We only use the Surface Dock gen 1's863Views1like0CommentsSurface Dock 2 stopped recognizing external displays
Hey everyone, I've had a Surface Pro 9 with a Surface Dock 2 for a couple of months now with 2 Dell U2723QE monitors connected via USB C. This setup was working great up until this morning where the 2 displays suddenly stopped working. After some messing around, I was able to narrow it down to an issue with the dock because if I connect the monitors to the surface directly they work fine again. I went through the suggestions on this https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/troubleshoot-connecting-surface-to-an-external-display-bc8f5121-a4cb-cf0b-5770-2df7a66a3b28#articleFooterSupportBridge=contactUsBridge tried updating drivers on the graphics card and dock, doing all Windows updates and clearing the display cache, but haven't had any luck yet. It could just be a bad dock I suppose and I need to get a warranty claim setup, but it just seems strange that it happened so suddenly. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, they'd be super appreciated. Thanks!405Views1like3CommentsSurface laptop 7th & Thunderbolt 3 external display issue
Hello, I have a surface laptop 7th under Windows 7 with the snapdragon processor offering 2 USB 4 ports. I don't manage to get my external display working through thunderbolt 3 connection. When I go to the device controller panel, I see the serial bus constantly refreshing. Otherwise, Windows 11 and the graphic card drivers are up to date. Would really appreciate if someone can help me. Thanks76Views1like0Comments
