new Windows Photos app ruins the "Open With" menu and won't let me open Photos Legacy
Hi, For my work I take a ~couple hundred photos everyday, move them to my PC, and then use the Photos app to pick which photos I want to add to my work reports, right-click the photo to go Open With->Photoshop, then do what I need to do in Photoshop. It's been a very good workflow for me that has not needed any fixing or changes. But then Microsoft pushes a Photos app update that adds an extra step to the "Open With" menu so now it just asks if I want to open photos in File Explorer, Gallery, or ClipChamp (which I don't even have installed) then I have to go to "Choose Another App" THEN it shows me the Choose Another App window that used to open directly with the "Open With" menu that I actually want to see! This is severely irritating and unnecessary and really makes my workflow so much clunkier and worse! Then the instructions to go back to Photos Legacy app by going to Photos settings -> Open Photos Legacy is simply not an option for me. So multi-part feedback here: 1) it was dumb to change the Open With menu at all. 2) It's horrible to give instructions to Open the Legacy App that do not exist in the real software. 3) There was nothing wrong with the original Photos app. 4) I really don't appreciate Microsoft changing things on my PC without my permission or knowledge 5) Then I try to get support for this and am told that there's no way to go back to Photos Legacy if the option doesn't exist in Photos app settings... Long story short, this is yet another time where I've just been forced to abandon Microsoft software that used to be good and go to a third-party software (I've already ditched Office for OpenOffice, gave up doing anything with the XBOX app or GamePass, turn off everything OneDrive and Edge and News and Weather, etc...in this case giving FlyPhotos a shot, immediately it does what I want) and once users do that, they don't come back, not for many years anyway. When will Microsoft get a clue that they can't just always force users to accept their in-app ads, shovelware, and increasingly poor UIs? I've got a spare PC I've set up with a Windows 11/Linux Mint dual boot and my experience with that so far has been W11 is terrible and Linux is quite nice. If Microsoft still tried to make their software/OS good for users instead of using them as platforms for pushing users into whatever they think makes the stock price go up, I would never have reason to discover these entirely worthwhile alternatives to Microsoft!

I uploaded some videos to my OneDrive Photos section, but they don't show up under Photos. It shows up under Files -> Photos with a blue in progress icon next to it. This didn't happen a month ago, and I couldn't figure out what the icon meant. At first, I thought it was syncing, but it's been 11 hours, and it's still there. Any ideas? thanks
How to transfer all photos from OneDrive into a hard drive?
Need to transfer all photos from OneDrive into a hard drive. I'm almost running out of space on OneDrive, and I want to find a way to quickly download all of them somewhere, before deleting them from the cloud. Thing is, it seems like I have to scroll and drag click all of the photos; 3 years worth of them, which is really tedious to do. I was wondering if there was an easier way to just download all of them somewhere? Note that this isn't about the OneDrive files, it's the OneDrive photos section, which I don't think you could sync to your computer. I'm using a MacBook Air M1 2021, if it helps. Thanks!
Onedrive Photos people tab constantly flickering
Onedrive Photos people tab is trying to open a side frame, then closing, then opening. It's happening on all 3 major browsers, cache cleared, incognito, no extensions etc. I tried to post more detail on the new Q&A site, no images or anything, just the console log, and it immediately deleted my post and banned me. So I'm trying over here.
AI Cataloging of People and Especially Places is Horrific
Yes, granted Microsoft is a step behind Google in Photo management, but with Google I can have my Windows Picture folder seamless linked to my Onedrive Pictures folder which is also seamless linked to my phone. That is, say I take a photo on my phone, it will show up in my Windows pictures folder (a local copy, not a cloud pointer) a couple minutes later. It makes accessing my photos with local software like Adobe lightroom so much easier. No downloading or copying. Amazon Photos use to do this too but they discontinued support for it. With that said, they only recently (past year) started doing facial recognition and the places recognition is essentially useless as Google Photos correctly detects about 100+ different places for a few thousand photos. Onedrive will only show me one page worth (18 places) with no ability to scroll down and see any more. Just a shame.Does OneDrive Photos have face grouping like Google Photos?
Hi everyone! I've been using OneDrive Photos for a while and I was wondering if there's any feature that groups photos by face, similar to what Google Photos offers. In Google Photos, I can see all the pictures of a specific person automatically grouped by their face. Is there a way to do the same in OneDrive, or is this feature planned for future updates? People Section in Photos on OneDrive app
Why can I not see the 'People' section in Photos on the OneDrive app that is depicted in the following Microsoft support topic titled 'Group photos by people'. The purpose is to enable users to find photos that have particular people in them.
