We have been using S4B for almost year and we have always been frustrated by a lag in screen sharing transitions. We see it a lot of problems with power point desktop sharing where it can take 30 seconds for a slide to change We use Skype for Business online We are sharing the desktop to present38KViews1like6CommentsSkype Room Systems v2 - first impressions
So we just installed a Skype Room Systems v2 (Logitech Group) in our largest conference room. Here are our first impressions when it comes to the software. We have Exchange 2016 on-premise and SfB Online in O365. There's one issue with dialing a number when you don't have PSTN Calling in your region. Maybe this is by design or maybe I just got it wrong (here's my discussion on that) You should disable the Surface Pro 4 built-in front and rear camera because otherwise when you choose to start the video, you have three cameras to choose from. It's not mentioned in the Deployment Guide but we figured it out they are in the Device Manager -> System Devices. Speaking of this, you shouldn't need to choose a camera at all if there's only one (1) camera - just default to that camera. We have a huge 100"+ projector screen in this conference room and when a single attendent call in with video, that person gets a full screen with their huge face. I don't know how we would technically solve this (I guess 2 * 55" is a better setup) but it feels like Big Brother ;). If a presenter in the room connects their laptop via HDMI and start something with a video (like Youtube) the sound outputs into the conference room and the sound is only catched up by the rooms speaker's which gives quite bad results. It should be able to get the sound from the HDMI input but then again, the deployment guide clearly states that "Audio playback over HDMI can only be heard locally" so maybe it's some technical reason why this is not possible. The DIY setup might be a little bit overly complicated selecting the correct inputs/outputs etc. Since the SRS application only works on "certified" versions, it should be possible for Microsoft to automate this and verify the settings remain the same after updates etc. But they have mentioned automated deployment scripts are coming. The dock (Surface Pro 4) screen is quite sensitive to fat fingerprints so after a while you need to clean it but maybe someone has some magical solution for that :) I hope the OMS management/monitoring solution will be available soon so we effectively can monitor the SRS so we can be proactive because users in general don't create a support ticket for conference room systems, they just give up :) Then there are some minor Logitech hardware first impressions but that's not related to Microsoft.27KViews10likes76CommentsSkype for Business as a Webinar Tool
Anyone have any resources or integrations that make conducting Webinars easier to manage with Skype for Business meetings? I am looking for Invite system with link Tracking who joined Main concern is getting the leads out of the meeting after so that I can have some actionable items for sales to follow up on.24KViews1like10CommentsSfB not generating Conference ID for meeting
We have several users reporting that when they attempt to create a SfB online meeting, their invites are not including the dial-in conference numbers and are only populated with the meet URL. This is with build 3639 of SfB and 15.28 of Outlook. Any suggestions? I believe there was a newer Outlook build but checking for updates repeatedly never detects any updates.19KViews1like17CommentsDo SfB Conference IDs ever stop working?
I've noticed that SfB Conference IDs remain live long after the scheduled meeting. I don't just mean by a few minutes, I can go back to old invitations from last month and still click on the link to go back into the conference. All the uploaded material is still there. Worse still, we have PSTN dial in conferencing enabled with toll free numbers so any invite particpant can go back to the old invite, dial into the conference ID (not PIN is required because the original meeting has already been had) and meet gratis. Anyone else noticed this? Any way to forcethose old Conference IDs to be stop working? Or revert back to the pre meeting condition where the meeting organiser is required to start the call before people can join?Solved12KViews0likes7CommentsSfB drops connection every 37 seconds
We had a sporadic problem where Skype for Business online meetings on our conference room PCs would drop every 37 seconds. After months of pulling my hair out, I had a stroke of luck and diagnosed it. It's a 100% reproducible bug, but the Microsoft support person didn't appear willing to escalate it to the product team; instead, he started trying to get me to downgrade to earlier versions of Windows and Office. I wasn't interested in that and dropped the ticket. The service request # was [REG:116012813643029] SRXCAP:616010793477988ID I want to make sure the product team is aware of the issue so it can be fixed. Can someone confirm whether it's an acknowledged bug? Summary of the issue: Non-domain joined Windows 10 box with Office 365. Multiple local accounts in Windows. Each local account is configured with their Office 365 credentials. If more than one user is signed in (to Windows and to Skype for Business), then the currently active user's SfB sessions will drop every 37 seconds. Logging out of the other user's account fixes the problem. Feel free to contact me for more detail if needed.12KViews0likes8CommentsSkype for Business Online lobby feature does not work with PSTN Conferencing users
We been using Skype for Business Online meetings since the beginning of 2016 and one of the first “feature” absolutely required by our users was the ability to use regular phone lines to join the audio. When we asked them why their answers vary from “that is how I am used to do it with the other conferencing solutions” to “I have audio quality issues when using the SfB client”. It does not matter, we implemented the PSTN Conferencing “optional” license and Skype for Business meetings adoption ramped up. One of the highly appreciated functionalities users quickly discovered is the virtual lobby. They loved the meeting organizer ability to control who gets in their meetings. The issue is that we started getting complains that when they turn the lobby on, users dialing in were unable to join the calls. Here is how reproduce the issue. Create a Skype for Business meeting invite and set “These people don’t have to wait in the lobby” to “Only me, the meeting organizer”. Make sure the meeting organizer is enabled for PSTN Conferencing. Try to dial into the meeting using a regular phone line (PSTN). Dial-in users will hear the following message after they enter the Conference ID: “If you the meeting organizer press * now. Please wait for the leader to admit you to the meeting. Thank you for your patience.” Since the meeting organizer will not receive any notification, those dial-in users will be stuck listening to lobby music unaware the meeting is going on without them. Undocumented workaround Despite what is documented at https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Decide-who-has-to-wait-in-the-lobby-to-get-in-to-a-Skype-for-Business-meeting-c6f26fc7-1f22-41b5-a775-33141e44d7f4, using any option other than “Only me, the meeting organizer” will allow dial in users to get in. So, setting “These people don’t have to wait in the lobby” to “People I invite from my company” or “Anyone from my organization” will enable the virtual lobby for users joining the Skype for Business meeting using the client and at the same time allow dial-in users to get in directly bypassing the lobby. Summary of the “These people don’t have to wait in the lobby” setting impact. These people don’t have to wait in the lobby set to: What happens with dial in (PSTN) participants? Only me, the meeting organizer Get stuck in the virtual lobby People I invite from my company Get in directly (bypass the lobby) Anyone from my organization Get in directly (bypass the lobby) Anyone (no restrictions) Get in directly as the users with the SfB client Expected behavior The workaround described above does not provide the expected behavior rather just allow PSTN callers to get into the call directly bypassing the lobby: SfB Meeting organizers should receive a notification that dial-in users are waiting on the virtual lobby and be able to admit them (or not) in the same way it works for users with the SfB client.11KViews0likes12CommentsPolycom RealPresence Trio 8800 Signs out
We are starting to deploy these conference devices in our environment and am finding that they sign out after a few days of inactivity. We have Exchange resources we assigned S4B and Cloud licensing and have successfully signed into the devices and joined several skype for business meetings. The problem is the devices sign out anywhere between 1 to 3 days after being signed in and i have to reboot the device to force it to sign back in. We have over 200 VVX phones deployed and are not having this issue. Polycom seems to think that it has something to do with Skype for Business. Can anyone shed some light as to what i need to look at? Much appreciated.10KViews0likes15CommentsOffice 2016 CTR - Disable Skype for Business 2016 auto-join meeting reminder
We have installed Office 2016 and some users have noticed that Skype for Business will auto-join them to a Skype-enabled meeting at the scheduled time. Usually, a toast will pop up from the meeting and if you click it you will be automatically joined to the meeting. Can anyone provide the registry settings or method to disable this unwanted behavior?Solved7.4KViews0likes7Comments
