This update is a major step backward, as far as user experience: - App does not remember Tiles/List view upon re-opening, just defaults to Tile view every time - "List" view is not really a list, just a grid of smaller connection icons with a minimum 2-column view - Please bring back the compact single-column list view with small thumbnails (or no images at all!) - "Show Thumbnails" should toggle whether an image of any kind is displayed or not. Currently, with "Show Thumbnails" off, I still see a generic icon/image, and I don't want to see any image. - Sidebar is not collapsible or re-sizable and takes up unnecessary real estate - Connection Center window cannot be resized to any narrower than two "list" entries + sidebar, further negating the concept of a "List view" - View menu > Device View Options and App View Options: These should be in Preferences, not in their own menu item - The connection badge has been removed, so there is no way to tell which connections are open (Thank you for that addition drea680 )1KViews22likes5CommentsAdd "Remember these credentials" checkbox to Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac
When connecting to an AVD workspace using Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac, the user is prompted for their password every time. You can change this by going through a semi-hidden, multi-step process to add credentials, but that is not obvious and hard to find: hover over the workspace name click the edit button. Next to user account, select add user account... go through steps to add. select the account. save. Please make this simpler by adding the same functionality that exists for Windows where you can just select "Remember these credentials"1.7KViews18likes2CommentsScreen artifacts after upgrade to Version 10.8.2 (2057)
After upgrade my remote desktop screen is full of vertical lines. The attached screenshot shows an example that's not too bad but this happens in all applications, and on the desktop/taskbar. Lots of lines on the login screen. The app is used daily in the same configuration and was fine until latest update. Client and host reboot did not help. Is it possible to revert to a previous version? This is Remote Desktop Beta 10.8.2 (2057) running on macOS Monterey 12.6.3. Client is Win 10 Pro, Version 10.0.19045 Build 190455.3KViews16likes13CommentsRestore Pin to Menu Bar for RDP client Mac
After updating Mac RDP client to ver. 10, I found that I can't pin the connection center to the menu bar. Because I don't usually need the connection center after connecting to clients, I think managing clients from menu bar without having extra window is a nice way to manage connections. So please restore pin to menu bar function or something similar for Mac client ver. 10.613Views12likes7CommentsWindows App drops connection with 407 Encryption error
This has been a recurring problem since updating to macOS 15.0.1. Running Windows App to connect to a Windows 11 laptop on the same local network I'm seeing repeated connection drops with the same popup: "Your session was disconnected - Your session ended because of a data encryption error. If this keeps happening, contact your network administrator for assistance. Error code: 0x407. This is continuing with the latest Windows App update (11.0.5 Build 2401). It also happens with the release level of Windows App. This makes Windows App barely usable since connections are constantly being dropped every few minutes.718Views10likes5CommentsNot a fan of the 10.9.10 changes
Just had the "Microsoft Remote Desktop Beta" app update to be "Windows App Preview". Not a fan of the name change "Windows App" as I don't think it really describes what it is doing but that's not so important. The new app defaulted to big bulky tiles for machines. Looked like the toolbar had a tile view and a list view but then I discovered the "list view" was actually just smaller tiles and not a real list view. I have a LOT of machines on my list and this makes the app feel far more cumbersome. What is worse is that if you close the app and relaunch the "big tile" view or small tile "list" view is not saved. IMHO having the app remember which view you have is a MUST. Please bring the old list view back as at least an option and please make the app remember the selected view between sessions.526Views10likes3CommentsWorkspace is deleted each time MS Remote Desktop quits
Currently I'm working with MS Remote Desktop for macOS Beta 10.9.2 (2147) to use customer workspace. I've left all preferences at default and only configured the workspace user. Each time I quit the app the workspace is deleted and I have to set up again. With previous (beta) versions (i.e. 10.9.0) I did not have similar problems.1.6KViews10likes8CommentsPLEASE put the detail/list view back in macOS RDC aka "Windows App"
PLEASE put the detail/list view back in macOS RDC aka "Windows App"! I have literally hundreds of connections and I need the old detail/list view back. The GIGANTIC ICON VIEW is NOT AT ALL USEFUL. Further the <Search> results for a connection should show results regardless of whether the category is "folded up" or "folded out". If I'm searching for something, I want to find it. I don't want to fold-out 2374834788 groups for the search to finally show my result. Connections from Mac computers running Microsoft Remote Desktop to connect to remote servers start throwing up "Error Code: 0x4" when attempting to connect to servers today. Servers are confirmed working and functional, connections are fine from Windows clients and iOS clients. Only macOS clients seem to be impacted. I went back through the https://install.appcenter.ms/orgs/rdmacios-k2vy/apps/microsoft-remote-desktop-for-mac/distribution_groups/all-users-of-microsoft-remote-desktop-for-mac and tried every version. Build 2048 was the last version of Remote Desktop for macOS that worked correctly. Every single build since, and including, 2057 fails to connect with error 0x4. Thanks, Scott1.9KViews9likes7CommentsMac Remote Desktop Crashing When Copying
Hopefully this is the correct place to post this now that the UserVoice website has been shut down. The latest versions of Remote Desktop for Mac have introduced a regular freezing problem when copying anything within a workspace. This is particularly bad in the Remote Desktop Beta, which we've currently abandoned, having used this for the last few years, and occurs quite regularly in the App Store version. Force quitting and then relaunching does at least retain the workspace, but until the force quit there is no interaction, just the blue spinning circle. This is on a 16Gb M1 MacBook Pro connecting to a Windows 2019 RemoteApp server.4KViews8likes13Comments
