Not a fan of the 10.9.10 changes

Just had the "Microsoft Remote Desktop Beta" app update to be "Windows App Preview".

Not a fan of the name change "Windows App" as I don't think it really describes what it is doing but that's not so important.

The new app defaulted to big bulky tiles for machines. Looked like the toolbar had a tile view and a list view but then I discovered the "list view" was actually just smaller tiles and not a real list view. I have a LOT of machines on my list and this makes the app feel far more cumbersome. What is worse is that if you close the app and relaunch the "big tile" view or small tile "list" view is not saved. IMHO having the app remember which view you have is a MUST.

Please bring the old list view back as at least an option and please make the app remember the selected view between sessions.

  • Just tried the 11.0.0 - almost as bad as 10.9.10...

The list view isn't a list view, it's a small tile view and doesn't appear to show last connected time even if you try to turn it on. Does "Windows App" (awful name IMHO, inconsistent with Remote Desktop Connection on Windows for a start) not inherit data from old version?

UI is a massive waste of screen real-estate especially when trying to work on a laptop screen. even in what I call small tile view. Doesn't feel like a professional tool.

Small saving grace the tile or small tile view option sticks (fixed in only of the later 10.9.x version), but for me I am (again) going back to 10.9.9 which has a much better UI.

Agree 100%. I hate the GUI. Seems like it was designed for the casual home user.

Icons are too big, no list view, minimum window size is too big, terrible keyboard-only UX, plus other things.

1000x yes! This is a huge UX and productivity step backwards. List view is literally why I switched to MSRD Beta years ago. And not saving view state reminds me of a bug they fixed years ago.
