Hi I have been trying to get my head around things, and had a bit of help but now I am stuck. I'm involved with a charity and we use the cloud to share essential information with volunteers. Our previous system, which closed down, allowed us to share files / folders without people having an account. However when I tried to share a folder with one of my test email addresses, it wants me to create a microsoft account, with authenticator. Now while I fully understand the implications of security, the share is literally one folder which they can't edit anyway. Is there any way around this? It's going to cause grief and I believe will put people off. I just want to be able to share a folder that people can access via the link. Thank you for your help.61Views0likes1CommentAdding a folder on an external drive to OneDrive
The reason for asking this question is existing discussions on the subject seem to provide contradictory information. Can I include a folder (i.e., D:\Finances\Taxes\TY 2024) on the USB external drive D: and all subfolders to the default OneDrive folders under C:\Users\nagdt\OneDrive so it will be backed up just like the default OneDrive folders, and if so, how? FYI... When I go to OneDrive Settings -> Sync and backup -> Back up important PC folders to OneDrive -> Manage Backup, I am not offered an option to add a folder in addition to the five primary default folders except for those folders under the five primary default folders. Thanks! NAGDT518Views0likes1CommentGeneral folder automatically created
Hi For some reason Teams keeps creating a folder called General for a all teams I'm a member of. This is really annoying as it gets replicated on a sharepoint site where we don't want a folder call General. If the folder is deleted it reappears (is created by me) when I log into teams. How can I stop this from happening?Solved78KViews4likes12CommentsOneDrive manage photos folders.

Hello fellow OneDrive users, I wanted to bring up a topic that I believe could greatly enhance our experience with OneDrive: the setup and synchronization of desired folders post-installation. Many of us may have encountered the time-consuming process of selecting folders to async when switching machines or setting up a new connection to OneDrive. This is especially challenging when dealing with a large number of small files within subfolders, as it can impact the overall performance of our machines, making them temporarily unusable. Issue Description: Whenever I change machines or connect to OneDrive on a new device, I find myself spending hours manually selecting folders to async. This process becomes even more cumbersome when dealing with millions of small files scattered across various subfolders. The constant synchronization of these files affects the performance of the machine, particularly the Windows Explorer process, leading to a lag in usability. Proposed Solution: To streamline this process and improve user experience, I suggest that Microsoft implement a feature that allows us to pre-select desired folders for synchronization during the initial setup or post-installation of OneDrive. This would save us time and effort, especially when dealing with large amounts of data. Benefits: Time Efficiency: Users would no longer need to manually select folders every time they set up a new connection or switch devices. This would significantly reduce the setup time and hassle. Improved Performance: By allowing users to pre-select folders, the impact on system resources and performance can be minimized. This is particularly important when dealing with a substantial number of small files. Enhanced Usability: With this feature in place, our machines would remain responsive during the synchronization process, making it easier to continue working without interruptions. Discussion Points: Share your personal experiences with the current folder sync setup process. Have you encountered similar challenges when dealing with numerous small files? How do you currently manage the synchronization of large folders with subdirectories? Are there any workarounds you've found effective? Do you believe that pre-selecting folders for synchronization during the initial setup or post-installation could improve the user experience? Why or why not? Are there any potential drawbacks or concerns with implementing such a feature? How could Microsoft address these issues? I'm eager to hear your thoughts and experiences on this matter. Let's discuss ways to enhance the folder sync setup process in OneDrive and make it more efficient for all users. Looking forward to your insights and suggestions!689Views0likes1CommentHow do I promote the files from a subfolder into each parent folder for 1000+ folders
Hi, I have the following folder hierarchy. There are over 1000 folders each for a different company. I need to put the files from the child folder, into each of the parent folders. (see example below). Rather than cut and paste each of the files (there's like 16,000++ files) I would like to run a command or program to do this. But I can't find anything that will work. (Folder) Company ABC File A File B File C (subfolder) Attachments File Z File Y (Folder) Company DEF File AA File BB File CC (subfolder) Attachments File ZZ File YY And what I would like it to look like is (Folder) Company ABC File A File B File C File Z File Y (Folder) Company DEF File AA File BB File CC File ZZ File YY Thank you for your attention.1KViews0likes3CommentsDeleting Folders as part of retention
I have a query about how to delete empty folders after retention policy has been applied. Some users set up folders in document libraries. Regardless of whether we apply retention at library or folder level, only the files within the folder will delete at the specified time but the actual (now empty) folder remains. How can we automatically get SharePoint to delete the empty folder as well as the files with in? I've seen a solution to create a flow but that will delete any empty folder, not just the ones where files have come to the end of their retention.3.2KViews1like1CommentMaking a Team template including all folders
For one of our departments, I need to make the very same Team in Teams regularly, BC each project has the same set-up. So what I need is a Team template form which all folders and subfolders (more that 30) can be cloned. However, when I clone such a Team, the folders (and files) are NOT copied along. What is the best way to do it anyway?6.9KViews0likes2Comments
