I know you can create a Document Set and drag it into another Document Set. But is there a way to allow a Document Set as a Content Type of Document Set? It will be more intuitive for end users to have a consistent new menu experience at each layer (we only want to have two maximum).1.5KViews0likes5CommentsIcon of Document Sets changed to default folder icon - Support claims it is "by design"
Some of our customers heavily rely on the Document Set functionality. Last week we noticed that the icon of Document Set has changed within a list view from to This seems somehow to be related to the new functionality to change the colour of the folder. All tenants which already received this new feature show the wrong icon for Document Sets. All other locations ("New" menu, Details pane) are still using the Doc Set icon, so the list view seems the only place where the icon has changed for a Doc Set. I had a call with MS support today, and they told me (like on many SP-related issues before) that this is "by design". I am using Document Sets since 2010 - claiming that it is "by design" to change the Doc Set icon to the folder icon is like changing the icon of a Word file to the generic file icon.4.2KViews0likes3CommentsDynamically display previews of files within Document Sets
I have a Document Set Library containing multiple Document Sets. Each Set contains 3 documents, each with a different Content Type. When I select a Document Set, I would like to display 3 'web parts' showing a preview of each of the documents - 1 web part for each Content Type. It should work in the same way as the File and Media web part which shows a preview of each selected file in a Document Library web part. Any advice is very appreciated thanks.595Views0likes0CommentsCreate Standard Views For New Document Libraries
We are putting together a Project Directory Site which will contain a document library for each new project that gets created. I've added two columns to the Document Content Type so that these are included with each new library. Is there any way to change the default 'All Items' view to include these columns without having to manually add them via show/hide columns? Additionally, can we create a custom view (Such as group by 'Document Type') that would be included in every new document library? The idea is that we would have a standard set of documents be added to each library, and we don't want to make users have to recreate these views for every new library that gets created. Much appreciated!980Views0likes1CommentHow to disable/bypass/hide edit form that pops up after uploading new file in Document Set (SP 2016)
Hi, I have created a Document Set Content Type named "Contract" with 2 shared columns (Start Date, End Date). I have also created a Document Library named "Contracts" which use this content Type. I have created a new contract "Contract 1" based on the "Contract" Content Type then I have uploaded a word document within the "Contract 1" Document Set, then a Edit form popped up asking for updating the Start Date and End Date properties but these 2 properties have already inherited the values of the document set 's properties and I dont want values of these properties to be updated at the file level (I want them to be always the same as the values of the Document Set 's properties) So I am asking you if there is a way to prevent the user from changing the properties values of the uploaded document, so that they always stay the same as the ones inherited from the document set which it belongs to. It's possible to add default content to document sets. This functionality works just fine when creating new document sets from the document set content type. However, when the default content needs to be modified or deleted it's impossible to do so in sites that are enabled for NoScript. You get the access denied page "Sorry, you don't have access" when you try to delete a default content document and press OK in the document set advanced settings page. This has to be an oversight as it makes no sense that it's allowed to add default content but not delete it without disabling NoScript on the site. Can Microsoft please fix this? This is on SharePoint Online, but I believe the same issue is present on SharePoint 2019.1.4KViews0likes1CommentDocument set default content title property overridden using filename
If you add a default content document to a document set content type and create a new document set from that content type the default content will have it's title field set to the filename including extension. This contradicts the default behavior where templates uploaded to the new-menu and default OOB templates defaults to an empty Title field. Is there no way to specify the tile field for default content in document set content types or to set it as empty? This will for example override the ability for SharePoint Search to extract title from within the document for use in search results. Instead it will show the file name including extension. Hi, Did anyone tried to copy/move documents between documents sets and found out that shared columns values does not get updated? With my tests I found that copying/moving documents in documents set does not propagate values if the source document and document set destination are in the same library. However, if the source document is in a different library than the document set destination, it will propagate. This look to me as an important issue. Because I did not found anyone talking about this issue, I'm wondering if my tests results are accurate. Thanks!877Views0likes0CommentsSharePoint Document Sets Can't Update Once Used
Correct me if I'm wrong. Once a Site Content Type > Document Set is used, the documents can no longer be updated. What if you need to change the template for one of the files? Can I base a template document on a link to a document that can be updated without having to edit the Document Set? Thank you645Views0likes0Comments
