click to call
4 TopicsUnable to use "callto:" to initiate a call in new Teams
We used to be able to run the command "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\WindowsApps\ms-teams.exe callto:email address removed for privacy reasons" to initiate a call in the classic version of Teams, but since upgrading to the new Teams client we get "Sorry, we're unable to complete the call." I've tested the command with a phone number "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\WindowsApps\ms-teams.exe callto:3059999999" and confirmed this still works and will prompt me in Teams if I'd like to call this number, it just doesn't find the person when using their email: I found the following Q&A post https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/1179266/callto-working-in-teams where Microsoft stated "external deep link like callto: are not supported" but using a deeplink like the example in https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/platform/concepts/build-and-test/deep-link-workflow?tabs=teamsjs-v2#deep-link-to-start-an-audio-video-call-with-users, launches the browser first before redirecting to Teams, which is the behavior we are hoping to avoid. We can still use the classic Teams for now but considering it will be replaced with the new Teams by March 31, 2024, we wanted to get confirmation if callto: will not be supported in the new Teams. If it's no longer supported, how can we initiate a call in Teams from a command without launching the browser first?Click to call (tel:) links not working
Recently switched over to the Teams Preview and noticed that the click to call (Teams Voice) functionality doesn't seem to be working. Selecting "Microsoft Teams (work preview), pops up the following in Teams: When I click "Call", it simply closes the modal without any action (equivalent of clicking "Cancel"). Prior to the Public Preview, it would make the call. Any others experiencing this? Would figure that this is a pretty standard functionality that they would have worked on from the onset. Perhaps something broke it?Need a 'Click to Call' button that doesn't force https://
This should be such a simple task, but there are Obsticles. Trying to add a "Click to Call" button in SharePoint. You would think that adding tel:0123456789 to the link field in a button Web Part would do the trick, but it doesn't. Our SPO site is forcing https:// at the beginning of the code and this takes us to a blocked page instead of making the phone call. Have also tried various types of html in the Embed Code Web Part, such as: <a href="tel:0123456789">Click to Call</a>with the same response. I've tried putting it in an iFrame too, still no joy. Does anyone know the solution please?790Views0likes0Comments'Do you want to make this call' prompt
I have managed to set up click to call through chrome extensions, but I still get the prompt in teams ' Do you want to call this number?' every time I try to ring a number. Is there any way to remove this prompt and just have it call the number when I click it?2.8KViews0likes1Comment
