authenticator app
75 TopicsAn Authenticator initial login round-robin
Hello all. In migrating from an older Android to a very new Android, I of course had to perform initial login on most app. In trying an initial login to Authenticator (an essential app for many other apps I use on the phone and on the desktop) I've been facing a maddening closed loop of actions: To perform initial login, I must use Authenticator to confirm access - even though I'm still trying to set it up on my Office 365 account login. Selecting "other ways" leads to a phone code, which when entered leads only to a "change your password" screen and I'm back where I started. (I've uninstalled/reinstalled the phone app; I've reset the p/w about a dozen times.) Insights or suggestions most gratefully received! Mon numéro de ticket : 2609 3014 2000 0444 Merci infiniment189Views0likes1CommentMicrosoft Authenticator backup not recognized by the same recovery account
My old Android phone has completely failed, so I can no longer access Microsoft Authenticator on that device. I had previously enabled Cloud Backup in Microsoft Authenticator, and I am certain that I am signing in with the same Microsoft personal account that was originally used as the recovery account. On my new Android phone, I reinstalled Microsoft Authenticator and selected “Restore from backup / Begin recovery” before adding any accounts. I then signed in with the same Microsoft personal account. However, Authenticator says that the backup is not stored under this account and asks me to try another personal Microsoft account. I am certain that this is the correct recovery account. Both the old phone and the new phone are Android devices, so this is not a cross-platform restore issue. I would like to know: Could this be a problem with the association between the cloud backup and the recovery account? Is there any way for the Microsoft Authenticator team to verify whether a backup still exists? Is there any supported way to recover the original backup instead of manually resetting and re-enrolling every third-party 2FA account? My old device is completely inaccessible, so I cannot open Authenticator there or create a new backup. Any guidance from the Microsoft Authenticator or Identity team would be appreciated.122Views0likes1CommentAuthenticator backup use company account
Just switched phones yesterday and discovered my Authenticator app backs up using a personal Microsoft account instead of my business account. If MFA is required by a business, shouldn't Authenticator be backed up using business accounts? In my opinion, there should be a way to keep business and personal MFA separate within a single app. Outlook does this with my business and personal email accounts...7KViews2likes8CommentsTrapped in an Authenticator Loop
Dear Community, please help! I am trapped in an Authenticator Loop. I've got a microsoft workplace account, but if I want to log in, I have to type in a code from the microsoft authenticator app. I downloaded the app, but in order to use it, I have to log into my account and in order to do so, I also have to type in a code from the authenticator app, which I don't get, because to get the code I would have to log into the authenticator app, what I would need a code for... No matter which link I click, I can't open anything before I enter the code, which I can't get. I am using teams on mac, either on a firefox browser or on the desktop app and the authenticator on an Iphone. Please don't just tell me "don't use teams on a mac", this wasn't my choice. Unfortunately, my emplyer's IT support also is chronically unavailable. So is here anyone who could help me? I've already gone through the usual deleting the app, using another browser etc. options. O endereço email address removed for privacy reasons ainda aparece no meu Microsoft Authenticator. Obrigado pela ajuda!99Views0likes0CommentsCan’t access my account, only global admin, Microsoft Authenticator issue
Hello, I had a case open a few days ago that was closed, as the issue was fixed. However a day later the same issue started happening again. I’ve got a small business and am the only global admin and cannot access any ms app through my business logins. When I go to login, it asks to setup Microsoft Authenticator (even though this has already been done), after entering the code I receive on my mobile, it says “something went wrong, please try again later”. I’ve tried calling the MS business support lines directly, however the last two days the AI just gets stuck and stops responding. This support line is terrible. is there anyway I can work around this? I can’t even access entra to turn off MFA.125Views0likes0Comments[URGENT] Sole Global Admin MFA Lockout - No escalation after 7 days (Ticket #2609050040000232)
Hello, I'm dealing with a critical "Sole Global Administrator MFA Lockout" scenario for one week now, and standard ticket support is taking 24h per reply with no effective escalation so far. Ps: I had to use my personnel account to login because my business account is unavailable!! PROBLEM SUMMARY: After switching phones, the only registered MFA method (Microsoft Authenticator) became orphaned. There's no MFA backup method and no working second admin account on the tenant. As a result, I'm locked out of: - Microsoft 365 Admin Center login - Microsoft Entra Admin Center login - Corporate email and Teams access WHAT I'VE ALREADY TRIED (unsuccessfully): - Deleting the broken MFA method (error: "delete operation failed") - Enabling and generating a Temporary Access Pass (blocked - admins cannot generate a TAP for themselves, and the second admin account is also affected by the same broken MFA issue) - Checking for account lockout status (not the case) - Error received during sign-in attempts: Error Code 500121 OPEN TICKET: Ticket #2609050040000232, open for 5 days now, only generic responses received so far. REQUEST: Could someone from the Microsoft team (moderator, MVP, or any direct contact) help escalate this to the Tenant Recovery / Data Protection team? I'm available to prove tenant ownership (domain control, subscription details, billing information). Any guidance on how to expedite this specific type of case would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.270Views0likes1CommentCan't access Microsoft Authenticator for business accounts
Hello. I am the tech support for a small church, where I am the admin for our MS 365 accounts, which are set up as "business accounts". I have been using Microsoft Authenticator for MFA for years. Recently I switched to a new phone and installed Microsoft Authenticator. All of my personal Authenticator accounts transferred over just fine, but all of the church's business accounts say "Scan the QR Code provided by your organization to finish recovering this account". The thing is, I am the "organization" and I don't know how to generate any QR code to recover the accounts. It was suggested that I could do something about this by logging into my Microsoft 365 administrator account, but when I try to log into my admin account, the only MFA option is "enter the code from Microsoft Authenticator". It's not offering a text or alternate email, only Microsoft Authenticator, which is what I'm locked out of. So I'm stuck in a loop. I opened a ticket with Microsoft Support nine days ago. I have received one phone call since then. The support person insisted that they needed to talk to the account's "alternate administrator", which I set up as my pastor, who is pretty computer savvy but not a deep IT person. They tried to call him one time, but he was not available to answer right then. There has been no communication since then. I'm hoping someone in this group can help me figure this out.816Views2likes4CommentsSole Global Admin locked out - lost MFA device, SSPR phone verification returns error
Hello, I am the sole Global Administrator of a Microsoft 365 Business Standard tenant and I am completely locked out of the account. What happened: - My phone with Microsoft Authenticator was physically destroyed. - I installed Authenticator on a new phone. My personal account restored from cloud backup, but the work account only appears as a "connected account" - it shows no TOTP code and receives no push notifications. Push requests still go to the old device. What I tried while my admin session was still alive: - Entra ID > per-user MFA > "Require selected users to provide contact methods again" - saved successfully. - User > Authentication methods > "Require re-register multifactor authentication" - returned "Delete operation failed. Try this command again or delete them one by one in the user authentication methods blade." - The Authentication methods list for the user was EMPTY, and default sign-in method showed "No default". "Add authentication method" button was greyed out. - "Revoke sessions" - succeeded, but this also terminated my own admin session and signed me out of Outlook and OneDrive. - aka.ms/mfasetup cannot be reached because it requires a fresh MFA challenge. Self-service password reset (passwordreset.microsoftonline.com): - First verification via alternate email succeeds every time (I have full access to that mailbox). - Second verification fails: both "Text my mobile phone" and "Call my office phone" return "Sorry, we ran into a problem contacting you." I tried +370xxxxxxx, 370xxxxxxx and 8xxxxxxxx formats - same error every time. This looks like a service-side failure, not a formatting issue. - Sign-in Helper now also reports "Account blocked due to multiple incorrect password attempts." Error codes seen: 500121 and AADSTS50133. I have tried calling Microsoft support in several countries. The automated system either asks for an internal extension number or the AI assistant disconnects the call before reaching a human. There is no second Global Admin and no recovery codes. I can provide the tenant ID, user unique identifier, subscription order number and proof of access to the billing email address privately. Requesting escalation to the Data Protection team for admin account recovery. Any guidance on how to reach a human agent would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.579Views1like4Comments
