Yammer

On a user level, Office 365 Groups are one of the biggest selling points for moving to Office 365. They provide quick, easy access to an online workspace for communicating with colleagues and collaborating on documents and files. There’s little-to-no learning curve: get in and start working. But they’re also one of the most confusing new things in Office 365. Below is my take on how Groups (and Yammer and Teams!) works from an everyday user's perspective. Use it for training, for explaining, and as a go-to resource when Groups confuses you. Below is just a small part of http://icsh.pt/O365groups. Read that in full and share with your colleagues!28KViews12likes3CommentsSocial Media Connections: Let's Network!

Came across Robert Crane's blog post here: http://blog.ciaops.com/2017/03/the-traits-of-modern-it-professional.html and found some interesting quotes: ‘Services like Delve and Yammer have underlying intelligence to surface what a user needs to see based on their activity. There is nothing to configure with these underlying services, software just makes it so. Understanding this process and being comfortable with it is a must as there is now far too much information, from too many sources, for a single individual to be able to process it all.’ ‘Many IT Pros have failed to keep their IT knowledge current, to the point where most users know far more about the systems they use than resellers. This is because that IT Pros have not carved themselves out regular time to study, learn, update and use the latest in technology. It isn't hard to do, but the secret is to make it a deliberate practice, not something that you say you'll get around to and never actually do!’ Do you agree? I managed to snag espnguyen and Angus Florance to talk about Yammer connected Office 365 Groups rolling out this week. Loryan Strant and a live audience helped us put some pertinent questions to Steve and Angus. After 18 months of plumbing and "non-sexy" updates, it looks like Yammer is ready to start ramping up on feature releases. I expect many will be in-line with the Office 365 Groups fabric, bringing parity to teams that choose the Yammer experience for their conversations. We had some curly questions around compliance and the different waves of updates for Yammer connected Office 365 Groups. It's 30min interview via Soundcloud or YouTube. Last year I posted a big list of changes in Office 365, this year I have done the same but put it in a free TechNet report for the community. It's my way of giving back and hopefully, it's a useful resource. I put some predictions in there looking at the year ahead plus some additional commentary. It's been a labour of love, as it's taken a while to complete and bring together. Please check it out if you get a chance or have any feedback, thanks. https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Office-365-Year-in-Review-23dfad49 Big thanks to the people I mention in the credits and more besides, you guys rock! Really pleased to see this, bringing the best of Office 365 together. https://blogs.office.com/2017/03/02/yammer-integration-with-office-365-groups-now-rolling-out/ "Today, we are pleased to announce the integration of Yammer with Office 365 Groups. Now, when you create a new group in Yammer, it will automatically be part of the Office 365 Groups service, giving the group a OneNote notebook, a Planner for task management, a SharePoint Online team site and document library. With the integration, you and the members of your group can readily access these shared resources directly from Yammer." Check out the https://blogs.office.com/2017/03/02/yammer-integration-with-office-365-groups-now-rolling-out/for more details including a useful FAQ. Microsoft’s announcement of the Viva Goals retirement came as a complete surprise to the customers using Viva Goals to implement the OKR methodology for their organization. From Microsoft’s text, it seems pretty clear that Viva Goals just didn’t succeed in winning sufficient customers to warrant ongoing development. The outcome is that Microsoft cut its losses and will retire Viva Goals. https://office365itpros.com/2024/12/09/viva-goals-retirement/2.2KViews5likes9CommentsTrying to make sense of Groups, StaffHub, Planner, Teams, Sites, etc.
I thought I'd try to create some clarity as well as explain some of the confusion and integration points between the various communication and collaboration apps and services inside of Office 365, specifically: StaffHub, Office 365 Groups, Yammer, Planner, Teams.
