Hello, I bought 3 mounths ago the SB 3 15" with I7 ,but during the normal use of the Computer I noted that randomically the system doesn't respond to external command of the mouse, touchpad or keyboard for 4-5 second, seems a sort of blocking of the windows . I already used the toolkit to update the system but nothing is changed. Do you have any king of suggestion about this issue? Thanks in advance P.41Views0likes0CommentsSurface Book will not recognize itself as a Surface and will not install drivers
I bought a used unit of Surface Book that doesn't recognize itself as a Surface device. In the System Properties it identifies as "OEMCH Product". It will not install drivers and has 18 unrecognized devices in Device Manager. One of them is the camera. I tried to install the official driver pack but the installer will say this is not a Surface device and abort. I even tried to use a 3rd party driver installer but that BSODed the Windows and I had to reinstall it. I ran out of ideas, other than try to find individual drivers, if it's even possible. Any help would be welcome.223Views0likes0CommentsSurface Book 3 doesn't respond to cursor clicks
I have a two year old Surface Book 3 and the cursor moves around fine but several times a day the computer will randomly stop responding to cursor clicks. It doesn't matter what I'm trying to click or whether I'm using the built-in touchpad or a wireless mouse. The only solution is to lock/unlock or sleep/wake the laptop. The drivers and firmware are completely up-to-date and the diagnostics don't show any problems. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Found a solution?284Views0likes0CommentsSurface Book is not entering bios

So it isn't Vivaldi doing this. Last night it happened in the Qobuz music app. I tapped a track to play, and got a stripe of the faded-center dots across the screen - the position of the Vivaldi dot, plus lots more to the left of it. No zooming in Qobuz, the app was just totally locked up, and nothing touch could do would escape. I brought over my keyboard and mouse. Qobuz remained locked up, but everything else worked, and the dots remained visible. I didn't see this in Vivaldi without a mouse, but there was a cursor stuck over the rightmost dot, in addition to the actively moving cursor. (The image is from a bit of phone video - screenshots didn't show either cursor.) The dots remained visible when I switched users, but the stuck cursor pointed to a different one: They stayed visible through the entire shutdown process, even over the colored screens with the shutdown steps. And when Windows came back, my taskbar was extra wide and locked. As before, nothing in Windows logs, or Qobuz log. Could this be a GPU problem? Qobuz uses it, but I've set Vivaldi not to. At least I think I have... The "GPU Process" still shows, but it is ~50 MB instead of ~500 MB. I think Windows is out of control...3.3KViews0likes5CommentsCan LTSC 2019 run perfectly on surface book 3
As the title says, I'd like to know if LTSC 2019 will run perfectly on a Surface book 3, such as install the required drivers, and be able to use the Surface's features, such as the separation of the keyboard from the screen, or touch support. In this website,https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/surface-supported-operating-systems-9559cc3c-7a38-31b6-d9fb-571435e84cd1#bkmk_surfacebook, it is shown that surface book 3 supports OS version 1903 and above, and LTSC is based on 1809, so I want to ask532Views0likes0CommentsSurface Books crashing when using camera
We have about 800+ Surface Books on campus, mixture of Surface Book 2s and 3s. So far I've had three Surface Book 3 users chime in with camera issues. One is stating that camera is crashing while on Teams, the other two are stating camera issues when trying to use the camera as a camera. Any of you seeing this with your Books?1KViews0likes1CommentSurface Book
I have a surface book that I bought in 2019. The screen went black 3 days ago and I can't find solution anywhere on the internet. I reached out to support but they were unable to help too. The screen is not broken, display is fine too. I cannot access any settings too as it is all black. Can anyone help636Views0likes0CommentsSurface Book 2's - Keyboard lights are active but blank screen.
This has been an ongoing issue for our Surface Book 2's for the past few years. There isn't really one specific pattern I can pinpoint but here and there say if a user is working on their laptop, closes it up to bring to a meeting and goes to open it, sometimes the keyboard lights will still be on and active but nothing will display on the screen. No CTRL ALT DEL or anything will get the display back. We end up having to hold down the power button until Its fully powered off (you'll know once the keyboard lights go off) and turn back on. I've tested all different kind of power settings. Having all sleep and hibernation fully off (whether on battery or charging). I've yet to really find anyone having a solution to this. UPDATE: To be more specific, it happens when the user is already undocked, and when they go back to their desk to re-dock is when it happens. When it docks and recognizes the external monitors, usually the laptop screen blanks out and back in when fully extends to the monitors but its when it blanks out and doesn't come back on, hence the machine still being actively powered on with the keyboard light active.. So one thing I noticed that has "helped" is if the user logs into the laptop first, THEN docks, it's less likely to happen. But when the user forgets that, it will still more frequently happen..625Views0likes0CommentsOriginal Surface Book Hibernate Chaos
Shortly after KB5005033 was installed, I began seeing the “Slide to shut down your PC” screen when I tried to hibernate from the power button. Had never seen that screen before. Flashed for an instant, and then it just crashed - no crash dump, nothing in the logs, just gone. Took several long presses of the power button to recover, and the log just said "The previous system shutdown was unexpected." Sometimes it added "The WinFsp.Launcher service terminated unexpectedly" when a reboot attempt failed. At first, if I chose hibernate from the Win->Power->Hibernate menu it hibernated properly. After a few days that began crashing too. If I set the power button to "Sleep" or "Do Nothing", it always shut down on a button press, but instantly, no colored startup screen showing the steps. I checked my power config everywhere including RegEdit, and it is correct. I have all the current drivers. I uninstalled 5005033. It apparently reinstalled 5004237 from July in the process. That seemed to fix hibernation for a couple of days - but soon it was back to crashing. I've given up on hibernation, disabled it with "powercfg -hibernate off", and set all the power config choices to act like a phone - sleep quickly when not plugged in, never hibernate or shut down. Despite the power button being configured to sleep, pressing it while running shuts the system down. BUT instead of instant black and no feedback, it calls up the colored startup/update screen and lists all the steps in shutting down! I don't remember ever seeing that on this machine! For several days I could put it to sleep from the TouchMe app, but that stopped working last night. Now I just have to wait for it to timeout by itself. I fear that is the beginning of yet another evolving failure. There are tons of details in the original post at: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/526434/did-kb5005033-break-my-surface-book-hibernation-by.html But I'm not convinced any of the logged errors or speculations are helpful. The comments keep saying I should post here, so... Can I be the only one who sees this?854Views0likes2Comments
