Surface Book 3 doesn't respond to cursor clicks

I have a two year old Surface Book 3 and the cursor moves around fine but several times a day the computer will randomly stop responding to cursor clicks. It doesn't matter what I'm trying to click or whether I'm using the built-in touchpad or a wireless mouse.  The only solution is to lock/unlock or sleep/wake the laptop.  The drivers and firmware are completely up-to-date and the diagnostics don't show any problems.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? Found a solution?
