OneDrive Direct Download Link
Hi all, My Problem and Question This question pertains to OneDrive for personal use. Microsoft recently made a change to the link format from the embed feature and made my direct download links obsolete. I would retrieve these links from the embed feature in OneDrive and the links looked like what's shown below. The link would directly serve the file to whomever accessed it without them ever having to interact with OneDrive. With the changes Microsoft recently made to OneDrive, is there a new way of getting links that have this functionality? Old link format (no longer works): https://onedrive.live.com/download?resid=XXXXXXXXXXX&authkey=XXXXXXXXXXX My Own Digging I've scoured several forums unable to find any solutions. I have found a temporary solution; however, the links generated via this method only have temporary authentication, so they expire after a day. Perhaps it could be a real solution if I could figure out how to get a permanent auth token for a personal OneDrive file. I'm retrieving the link from the GET request when clicking the download button on a file from a publicly shared link. One Drive storage
I have recently subscribed to the additional 1TB storage so that I can backup my photos after upgrading my mobile. I have transferred my photos off my old device onto my laptop & saved these on an external hard drive. I have then dragged & dropped some folders onto my OneDrive. I have currently used 92.5GB of storage. I tried to drag some further folders across put an error message saying I did not have the storage allowance on my OneDrive personal. How is that possible when I've only used 92.5GB??
Alternative to OneDrive Albums?
I'm using OneDrive Personal to automatically store all my photos from my mobile and to upload photos I have taken with my DSLR. This is great and very convenient and I have heaps of space available. However, Albums in OneDrive is sadly lacking almost all of the most basic functionality (custom sorting, adding captions or running slideshows, just to mention a few). Sadly this seems completely ignored by Microsoft (it has been pointed out and requested by several people for years without any action). So, I wonder if there exist any other app (by MS or 3rd party) than can be used to access pics in OneDrive and present them in Albums to friends and family in a user friendly and intuitive way?
Preventing backups of duplicate photos
Hi gurus, I have a onedrive account that is synced to my phone and my personal laptop. OneDrive automatically backups all photos that I've taken on my phone. Periodically, I will organise and move my photos from phone to my laptop to 'free up' phone storage - I will categorise the photos in folders in my laptop. In this case, do you know if onedrive will backup these same photos again - meaning I will backup the same photo twice - phone version + laptop version? How can I get Onedrive to backup the laptop photos, but to detect that it is a duplicate of the phone photos, and keep only the laptop photos? Thanks!
