Is there a way to find who is the owner of the file e.g. File A was shared by A with B and B shared it with C. is there a way for C to find who is the actual owner of the file? The template file was shared with Manager Store 1 by someone and Manager Store 1 Shared it with me. I was able to identify this through Graph API but for end-user it is a real problem.Solved31KViews1like5CommentsShared by me - No Sorting Options?
Really excited to see the much awaited Shared By Me in OneDrive for Business. We definitely see the benefits and will use this in our continued effort to educate users on why they should share a document rather then send out copies. One issue - it is not sortable? And the default sort order I have not quite figured out. 1. Will it be sortable? 2. If not can we sort by something that makes sense like "Latest Shared"?11KViews6likes27CommentsCloud problem "OneDrive"
There is a problem with the cloud, it’s definitely not local, but specifically in my account OneDrive. The problem is that through the parameters when emptying the recycle bin, an error appears "undefined" to be more precise it looks like this "will be cleared undefined storage". I contacted Microsoft technical support, first with the technical department, then with the accounts department, then with the department OneDrive. They said everything was fine with the account, there were no problems, initially I was sent to the accounts department, later I was sent here, but even then they only advised me to clear the cache, Log out of your account and unlink it, none of this helps, it’s useless. This doesn’t help, give me a link to reset the cloud or something else, well, I can’t log into my account from this account, because of the cloud, the computer is just going crazy, the application is on the computer because of the cloud constantly restarts, now constantly processing data, but impossible to work with the account. Give me some good advice already! In addition, due to the fact that the cloud storage is not detected, Clearing synchronized data in a partition does not work "devices".9.3KViews0likes5CommentsTagging in Onedrive for Business
Hi All, File tagging is a feature that is not available in Onedrive for Business yet, although competing cloud storage providers are already there (https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/one-drive-files-tagging/a92a6323-46e0-4be3-a108-19a14a3e1f20). Can Microsoft confirm that tagging will be available in a new release of OfB ? The reason I'm asking is that we want to deploy OfB in our company but need an easy way of organizing or folders and files, so that it would be easy to retrieve a folder or file. A feature like tagging (or similar way of managing files) would be very helpfull. If a tagging feature would become available, when will it be released ? Thanks for the info. The latest OneDrive Sync Client 17.3.6915.0607 includes the expansion of the file path to 400 characters. this is greatly needed to allow us to migrate file paths that exceed the current 255 limitation. Can I get a copy of the above so we can begin testing? There are several 100,000 files that we need to get migrated and the new client should provide what we need. We are on First Release but not seeing how that would get us this file. Can any one help me?4.6KViews0likes3CommentsUsers can disable search
Hi Guys, I wanted to ask how you deal in your organizations with the fact that end-user (also SCA for his/her OneDrive site) can go and with a bit of extra effort they can disable search (from old site settings). Of course impact of that is mainly on eDiscovery which from that moment is unable to discover documents/files or preserve them. They can do other ugly stuff too, like create subsites in OneDrive, or create additional libraries or even enable check out which makes no sense in OneDrive and causing of number of very weird and hard to solve problems. I just notice that MS introduced new twp page design for "OneDrive Settings" but this compliance gap is still not addressed.Solved4.3KViews1like12CommentsHow can I force OneDrive to accept metadata for images and photos 1:1?
Is there any way to force OneDrive to save images as an exact copy of the original local files, including all changes to metadata? In detail: I have massive problems with using OneDrive as a data storage for photos, as OneDrive is often unwilling to accept changes to metadata (especially tags or geo-coordinates). The problem seems to have existed for years, as you can read in various places: https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4527626 - OneDrive reverts changes to IPTC (!) https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/onedrive-randomly-re-creates-pictures-some/7ca06735-eac2-470d-8c54-77adc7955d5c https://www.lightroomqueen.com/community/threads/lightroom-with-onedrive-keyword-metadata-conflicts.41753/ and other places. I also have the problem that I change the metadata of my images with digiKam, but that these changes are then often not accepted by OneDrive. There is then a file conflict, OneDrive renames my local files and I then have two variants. Or the changes simply do not arrive in OneDrive and are not even recognized as changes. In other words, it is not possible to reliably change image metadata when the folder is synchronized with OneDrive. So I tried the following workaround to at least have a secure and exact copy of my data somewhere: - I now use local folders for pictures and videos that are not synchronized with OneDrive - I synchronize these local folders via "Synology Drive" one-way (from the PC to the Synology) with a Synology Diskstation - "Chloud Sync" runs on the Synology to synchronize the changes from the Synology to OneDrive one-way. - The aim is for the data in OneDrive to also correspond to the local data on my PC The synchronization from the PC to the Synology works. I can compare data with WinMerge and the data on the Synology corresponds to the local data. The synchronization from the Synology to OneDrive does not work properly: I can synchronize the data from OneDrive to my PC for testing and comparison. If I now compare my original local images with those that come back to my PC via the detour "local -> Synology -> OneDrive -> local 2", many changes in the metadata of the images are not adopted.3.7KViews2likes4CommentsMy Shared Documents View?
Shared with me is great view, but there should be a "My Shared" view so a user can go to one place to see all their documents shared so they can unshare and update sharing easily. Just a thought, It should be fairly easy to do and could provide some good value.Solved3.4KViews1like19CommentsCreating a rule for automated deletion of unused files
Hello together, I was wondering if there is a setting somewhere in OneDrive for Business which allows the user to set a time after which files should be deleted if they haven`t been touched/modified. For example if I create a word file to write down some notes or create a draft and I forget about it it will be in my OneDrive forever. I might not want that because after some time I will have hundreds of unused files that I will never use or look at again. So i was wondering if there is a rule for example that I can apply either to a specific folder or the complete OneDrive that "monitors" the files and deletes the once that have a last modified date older then 90 days. At first glance I couldn`t find anything. Only thing I came up with was a Flow that runs everyday and checks those files for the last modified date and then deletes the once that have a value older then 90 days. It`s not finished yet but I am pretty sure it will work BUT this might not be a appropriate solution for my customers. Did someone have this issue/request before?
