Hyper-V

I have Windows 10 Pro, build 19045. I am trying to delete a VM inside Hyper-V, but when I click on Delete, the computer hangs..continuous hourglass. Tried to close Hyper-V manager, but doesn't close. My only option is to do a hard shutdown of the computer. Any suggestions or solutions? Anyone else having similar issue?80Views0likes3CommentsWiFi in Win11 issues in .3915
So i'm going crazy here and don't know where to go next, to Microsoft support or my internet provider... I've happily had Hyper-V on my Windows 11 Insider and some VMs i use for delivering trainings. Few days ago i noticed i no longer can connect to the internet on the VMs. Existing VMs, new VMs, VMs with past snapshots applied, etc.... no internet on the VMs, period. I tried creating new switches several times and nothing helps. However, although i don't need internet to deliver the trainings, when doing so at the university, i always use my host/laptop's internal card with a SIM in it and have no issues whatsoever with the internet in VMs. The SIM i have is from the same provider as my home cable is from. I just turned off my WiFi and connected the cellular network. Boom! VMs instantly have internet access. Turning on WiFi -> no internet again. So at this point i'm kind of stuck and not sure where to go for help. Obviously there is nothing wrong with my Windows OS in general, but there is an issue with the WiFi. On the host, i have no issues with the WiFi, internet is fine and working properly. I'm shutting down my laptop every night, so "restarting" did not fix it. Should i try resetting my router or go to Microsoft Windows support first? I think going to the internet provider has no benefit now, as they will blame the OS. Any thoughts?191Views0likes3CommentsAdd USB device passthrough in Hyper-V
Just like in VMware products, Hyper-V needs USB device passthrough, so that we can connect our USB device (USB network adapter, USB flash storage, USB printers etc.) straight to the guest OS VM such as Windows and Linux Upvote this on Feedback hub: https://aka.ms/AAa8gcl1.6KViews2likes1CommentHyper-V on Windows 10
Let me ask for a clarification about Hyper-V on Windows 10 (and Windows 11). On page https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/performance-tuning/role/hyper-v-server/architecture about Windows Server I read that "Hyper-V features a Type 1 hypervisor-based architecture.". It means that Hyper-V works as a bare-metal hypervisor, is it correct? Is it the same for Hyper-V on Windows 10? Hey Everyone, I'm not sure I'm in the correct place. I've never posted on here before. I'm on Windows 11 Home Edition through the beta channel. I was wondering if anyone knows a way to move from 11 Home Edition to 11 Pro Edition (or is there another better suited?). I am a student. Majoring in software development. I have interests in joining the developer program here, I'm just a bit nervous it's too advanced for me. I would really like to access the features that are available on other versions of Windows. I was able to enable Hyper-V. But I would like to have access to the sandbox (Not sure if that's even available on the PRO edition), screencasting. I can sometimes cast a youtube and some other things, but not just screencast my full desktop, for example) and Bitlocker. My device is definitely capable. I checked and the status of my TPM, it says Status: Ready to use. I have 32gb RAM and 1tb SSD (also a couple external HDD/SSD) Anyways, I can't afford to pay for the pro version. I was wondering what the absolute cheapest way to get it would be. Or if there are work arounds like there is for enabling Hyper-V. Thank You, John771Views0likes0CommentsHyper-V and Network Adapters
I have new Hyper-V network adapters showing up on my laptop. However, I never enable Hyper-V. Does anyone know how this happens or how to get rid of them? It seems to be affecting my network connection to my "normal" Ethernet, which show as "unplugged" Thank you!1.2KViews0likes1CommentHyper-V adds multiple "Default Switch" network adapters
Hello, I am using a Windows 10 Enterprise 1803 and Hyper-V Manager 10.0.17134.1. I created multiple virtual switches and use the as well. I think the starting point of my issue is the leck of a physical RJ45 socket at my laptop. Because of this I need to use adapters. Additionally I work at different desktops with different adapters and docing stations. Therfore I have changing network adapters. My issue is an increasing amount of "Default Switch" network adapters. I am not sure wich action caused an increase but I had 38 "Default Switch" network adapters two or three weeks ago. Now I have 57 "Default Switch" network adapters!!! I can't delete them. I assume the issue is in corealation with the fact I can't change something at my default switch. I don't know when I got this state or why. Do someone know how to solve the issue? Can I easly uninstall Hyper-V and install it again without loosing virtual mashines. And hopfiully without exporting the VM's? Thank you Nico Hollmann1.9KViews0likes2CommentsStatic DCHP Address-Binding on Hyper-V Private vSwitches?
Recently got a new laptop with Windows 10 Pro. Prior to this, always used VirtualBox for locally-hosting VMs to do my development work on. Opted to try out Hyper-V since it's also free (and hopefully requires less-frequent reboots for hypervisor-driver updates). Initially, I set up my VMs to use an external vSwitch. However, external vSwitches require putting my wifi interface into bridge-mode. When in bridge mode, network performance goes in the trash - for both my VMs and my host: using various speed-testing tools, my connection-performance drops from 500Mbps-bidirectional to about 4Mbps down/200Kbps up. As a workaround, I switched to using private vSwitches and using connection sharing. This restored my host's connection-performance to their initial levels and sped my VMs' networking up to nearly the same speed, as well. Unfortunately, the cost seems to be that my VMs' IP addresses change regularly. Worse, if I go into the VMs and change to static IP addressing, the private vSwitch's gateway refuses to route. So, the question is, "how do I provide persistent address-binding to my Hyper-V VMs without trashing my networking-performance"? I've seen various posts about using external interfaces and changing driver-settings to disable the broken "optimization" settings associated with bridge-mode, but, those settings don't seem to be available when the base NIC is WiFi.818Views0likes0CommentsHyper-V becomes unresponsive and Hangs when trying to delete VMs Windows 10 build 19018
Whenever I try to delete any VM in Hyper-V in Windows 10 build 19018 fast ring, Hyper-V console hangs and becomes unresponsive. no matter how long I wait, it will stay in that state until I restart. if you're on the same build, please try it on your machine and let me know if you are seeing the same results. also Upvote this feedback if you have the same problem.
