The big "sale" at MS Ignite 2017 for Teams was the ability to add external guests to your team. In session after session this was demonstarted. Even at their booth at the exhibit hall, I went to ask questions to confirm setup and usage. I was exicted as we have been waiting for this feature. I get back to my office and attempt to set it up and it will not allow me to add external users nor receive external emails to the team. I have gone through all the steps I can find, even ran through a hands on lab a second time. Opened multiple tickets with Microsoft Support and they said it is not possible to add external users, nor received external mail inside a team. Can any one give me guidance on how to make this work? 20171018 Update - my teams are not allowing for O365 users to be added either (not just gmail accounts). However have gotten further, seems to be a certain way you must add to the group first then to the team in order to trigger the "welcome" email. Working with Microsoft support engineer and still researching but have gotten further. Please reference Christopher-Graves response, he is the closest yet to understanding and finding a solution. Roadmap as of an update yesterday shows "guest" in testing and development - odd.Solved31KViews2likes26CommentsSharepoint Guest Users
Hi All, We are using Sharepoint online to share documents with users outside of our organisation. We have enabled the option that users need to authenticate from the email address that they receive the document sharing invite on. They receive the document email and then they need to enter the verification code to access the document. We are finding that some external users get the verification code email and other external users are almost being treated as internal users and are getting direct access however they are prompted to login with a MS account which of course they dont have and therefore unable to access the document. When we look at the sharing links, the links that are shared with users that dont have any issues include the email that the verification code needs to be sent to, whereas the problematic users get links that dont include the verification code email address. When we investigated further we found the problematic users are being added as Guest users in our Office Admin Portal and I dont know why this is happening. When I share a document with my personal email address it works fine and I dont appear in the guest users group and for most other external users, the case is the same. There are about 25 external users which are having issues. Once I delete the Guest users, the issue no longer exists. This issue has only presented itself in the last 2 weeks or so. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated and hope this all makes sense, admittedly it took me a while to get the exact details of the problem after it was first reported. thanks trev17KViews0likes9CommentsHow can avoid that guest users can download or edit files in Teams?
Hi, I have a channel in Teams for my company that we want to share with external people. We would like to allow these guest users can view the files but not download or edit. Is it possible? How could we do it? RegardsSolved13KViews0likes1CommentAdding QR Codes to Microsoft Authenticator for Azure AD Guest Accounts
Getting a new device means that some work must be done to ensure that apps work. This article explains how to add QR codes to the Microsoft Authenticator app so that the app has the credentials to respond to MFA challenges. We cover how to get QR codes for Azure AD accounts and how to do the same for guest accounts in other Microsoft 365 tenants. https://office365itpros.com/2023/01/04/microsoft-authenticator-app-qr/12KViews0likes0CommentsCan't invite deleted Guest User "We ran into an issue. Please try again later."
Good morning Microsoft community We have to delete an Guest-User from our AD and reinvite the Guest-User into a team - the reason is a workaround for a PowerBI problem. I have a short, but for me an unsolveable question: I deleted the Guest-User and permanently deleted him inside of the "deleted users". After more than 24h i tried to reinvite him into a team. What now happens, is that he still get listed in the memberdropdown menu and if i click on him, the following message appears. As information: I cant just type his mailadress inside the invitation-box, without picking his saved mailadress from the dropdown-list - otherwise it doesn't recognize a new guest-user. I hope someone can help me. Thank you very much! Kind regards B_GenSolved7.4KViews0likes6CommentsGuest access to Teams in another Tenant after Tenant-to-Tenant migration - not working
We have migrated a domain to a new Tenant. Users have same UPN in the new Tenant as before. Some of our users are also Teamsguest in other Tenants - but after the migration they cannot login anymore. We have tried to get new invites from the external Teams but without any luck. We see the Tenant selection in Teams and can select the external Tenant but it just returns to our own Tenant. Any thoughts on this? -ThomasSolved6.6KViews1like1CommentIdentifying what resources Guest Users in my tenant have been granted access to?
I have a few Guest Users defined in my M365 tenant, as well as seeing a few "#EXT# external accounts (which each appear to be directly associated with their respective Guest User account) listed in my Active Users list. How can I determine what internal resources these guest user accounts have been granted access to?3.7KViews0likes1Comment
