Fundraising & Engagement
42 TopicsWill Microsoft’s Fundraising Template App Be Supported Long-Term?
Since Microsoft retired the Fundraising and Engagement app, they’ve introduced template apps for partners and customers to build solutions. Over the past year, we did lot of customizations on top of the Fundraising and Engagement app, and we’re now considering moving these customizations and needed functionality to the ‘Fundraising’ template app. However, we’re concerned about long-term stability. Can Microsoft confirm if there’s any risk of these templates being retired or delisted? This would help us and others plan with greater confidence.108Views3likes2CommentsThe Innovation for Social Good Program

I'd love to chat with a mid-sized nonprofit (in the 20-50 staff range +/-) that is up and running with Dynamics (whether or not they are using F&E), using it across more than one department, and generally satisfied with how things are going. I'm curious how much customization is in place, how much iteration has happened since go-live, what your tech stack looks like, how much is managed internally by an admin vs externally by a partner/managed services, and the LOE for getting an admin up to speed and/or expectations for ongoing partner support (cost, hours per month, etc). To be totally transparent, we have found Dynamics more difficult to work in than expected and would like to understand from others whether our expectations are realistic or not. Thanks in advance to anyone willing to chat!127Views0likes0CommentsEM+S E3 50 Seat Legacy donation - some customers being charged - why?
Hi, Bit of a niche question and probably only relates to non-profit customers who subscribed to this prior to September 2019. I know that back in September 2019 it was announced that the non-profit donation of 50-seat Microsoft 365 Enterprise Mobility + Security E3 was being discontinued for new customers, but Microsoft said then that customers who had already procured these donated subscriptions could keep them in perpetuity as a legacy donation. A couple of our clients have received renewal invoices for this product but with the non-profit staff pricing rather than the donation pricing. Of customers who have had a renewal recently, only 2 have been charged with others still receiving the donation. These are all Direct Bill customers. I know that the Office365 E2 Grant is being discontinued from October renewals but have not seen anything similar for the EM+S E3 donation. Have I missed something? Has anyone else experienced similar? I have reached out with a service request but the suggested explanation was way off the mark, saying that it was due to changing from monthly to annual billing, which wasn't the case, as shown by the previous year's zero annual invoice. Appreciate your input. Thanks, Colin6.8KViews2likes14CommentsStripe integration
Edit: this has now been resolved in the latest version of F&E (dated April 2024) that now usesStripe client-side tokenization. We have it working as expected in a test environment. Hi all We are in the process of linking F&E to Stripe (test mode for now) to take credit card transactions. In the Payment Processor I have set the Stripe Service Key field to the Stripe Publishable Key value. The API Key field has been set to the Stripe Secret Key value. This is not well documented, but@chrisw_tesadvised this was working correctly for them in another post in this forum. These API credentials have been transferred into Azure as per the documentation. When I add a Stripe test credit card to a transaction (stage 1), it completes successfully and I can see a token has been returned in the Stripe logging. When I process the transaction (stage 2), if fails with "Unsuccessful response from Stripe - secret_key_required". I can see a similar error in the Stripe logging - suggesting a publishable API key has been used instead of a secret key, incorrectly. But the POST did include the token created in stage 1. So I tried setting both values in the Payment Processor to the secret key - but then the addition of the credit card (stage 1) fails, suggesting that "sending credit card numbers directly to the Stripe API is generally unsafe". Please can anyone offer some advice here - is F&E using the wrong key in stage 2 and this is a bug? Or have I made a mistake in the config somewhere? Many Thanks! Added a couple of members who have commented on Stripe in this forum:BobKanzlerjjbh_as they might well have some further insight! Thanks!Solved1.6KViews1like6CommentsOffice 365 Business Premium License for Nonprofit Staff
I got information about the number of licenses available (10 licenses) when I signed up for the plan, but the number of licenses available (just one license). What's the correct number of it? Is it possible to use Office 365 and Teams for the staff without buy licenses, even using them online? Thanks in advance585Views0likes1CommentConnect Fundraising & Engagement with Business Central
Hey Community, for one of our customers we are thinking about using the NGO-Cloud espacially the Fundraising & Engagement App. This is a small german NGO so the german regulations require a "real" financial system in the background for processing and documenting transaction. As the NGO Cloud is working out of the box we have to use the so called payment processor/gateways to process financial transactions. First thing i was wondering: Did anybody manage to setup a custom payment processor that isnt using Stripe but Business Central? Does anybody found some documentation in regards to setting up custom payment processor? Looking into the NGO Cloud it very much looks like that all the Apps are build for the USmarket. Does anybody have an opinion about wether it is a good idea to roll out the NGO Cloud for german market? or is it better to only install the common data model? THX!!! 🙂818Views0likes2CommentsNew tools for Nonprofits: Community Training and Likelihood to Donate
Last week, the general availability was announced for two new tools in Microsoft for Nonprofits: Community Training and Likelihood to Donate. What are they and how do they help Nonprofit organizations? Learn more in this LinkedIn post from Kate Behncken, Corporate VP of Microsoft Philanthropies:Two new offerings for Microsoft for Nonprofits Be sure to also check out this video of Magic Bus and how Community Training has been valuable to their nonprofit organization:How are other folks handling direct mail lists, specifically deduping households and salutations?
I'm curious how other F&E customers approach generating direct mail lists. Some of the issues at play: Multiple household members > 1 piece of mail If we build a report or marketing list around Contacts, each household member will appear as a row in the list and will need to be deduped at some point to ensure the same family doesn't receive multiple mailings. If we build a report around Accounts, that will only include Contacts with a household account specified. Is anyone taking the NPSP approach and auto-creating household Accounts for *every* contact, regardless of the number of household members? Or instead running multiple queries to build lists around Contacts without households, then Contacts with households? Or perhaps if Contacts have a related Household, only include them if they are marked as the "Primary Household Member" in the "Household Relationship" field? If creating Households for everyone, I assume also building automation to update address values in some capacity across records? Household greetings/salutation Who's using these? Did you build out significant automation to generate and update the fields? It seems... tricky to automate all the permutations (Contact record deleted or moved to another Household, how to manage order of the names, etc). But manual seems problematic as well... Have you taken a totally different approach to generating salutations?SolvedStripe "process payment unsafely" when processing credit card transactions
Hello all, For one of our clients, we have to turn on "process payment unsafely" in Stripe to avoid below error. I am wondering if anyone else has come across this issue before and how they managed to fix it. Also, I'm curious about any tips on reassuring the client that the payment process from MSFT is secure. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!1.2KViews0likes2Comments
