3024 TopicsIntroducing "Request sign-off" - an approval flow that requires no set up
We are happy to announce a new feature in SharePoint called "Request sign-off". The goal is to provide you an easy way to send an item for approval to someone else. This feature enables an open approval process that allows you to easily record whether or not a document or list item was approved or not. There is no setup required. Request sign-off makes use of SharePoint's integration with Microsoft Flow. You can use it by selecting a file or list item (but not a folder), and then pulling down the Flow menu in the modern library or list UI, and selecting "Request sign-off". This flow will appear alongside any other custom flow that you or others may have added to the library. Once it is invoked, Request sign-off will create a new text column in your library called "Sign-off status". This column will record the state of your request. It works just like any other text column, you can sort, filter or group by it to organize your library. On invocation, this will tell you that it will send an approval request on your behalf, and ask your consent. Once this is provided, you can pick one or more approvers, and write a message to them for your approval request. If you add more than one approver, any one of them can approve your request: The person you sent the approval to will receive an approval request. This will be an actionable message on clients that support it (meaning you can approve it directly from within Outlook). The approver can also provide some comments along with their decision. There will also be a link included that lets the approver view the item in question: The sign-off status column is then updated with the decision, and the person who sent the approval request will receive an email with the comments: By saving you the trouble of setting up a flow and creating a new column to track status, we hope that this feature will make it easy to add a lightweight approval process to your libraries and lists. We expect this feature to start rolling out to our customers in targeted release (previously called first release) after April 9. Barring any issues we will continue to roll it out to the rest of our customers in two phases late April and early May.Custom/Vanity domain name/URL for Sharepoint Online

I'm trying to open HTML files that are saved in a Document Library created on a Team site (using Office 365 Groups). When we add HTML files to the library they will only download and then open. We would like to be able to have these files open in the browser. Any ideas?173KViews0likes44CommentsDeleted files/folders reappear as they are synced back online from client OneDrive

The Finance department (VIPs) are getting very frustrated with deleted files/folders reappearing as they are synced back online from other user's sycned client OneDrives (the name of the user and date/time are listed with the file online). PLEASE HELP. I am also opening a ticket. This is what we have tried: Make sure all sync clients are up to date Try renaming the folder/file and then deleting it from online SharePoint This did not work at all. Both the original and the renamed files/folders reappeared Checked SharePoint permissions. There are some unique permissions on a few documents but in general the members have edit permissions. Hi Everyone, yes I agree the O365 suite is a great tool for organisational knowledge management and collaboration. However, I have not found any official guidelines on a way to set up a knowledge base/Wiki type structure, that achieveswhat is offered by other software. I'm thinking that Sharepoint would be the ideal place, but am interested to hear from this community on what has been done, tried and any tips for new players. Thanking you in advanced!144KViews6likes34CommentsPrevent deletion of SharePoint files
We had a situation where an end user accidentally deleted thousands for files under a SharePoint document library via OneDrive. The document library itself is accessible to everyone within the company. Is it possible to prevent users from deleting files within a document library and all subfolders? All users currently have "Edit" permissions allowing users to add, update and delete all items. There doesn't appear to be a permission level that allows all this except for delete.Solved139KViews2likes19CommentsMoving or Copying Files: Painfully Slow, Loss of Data
Hello All! Our company transitioned over to SharePoint Online about a year ago. One of the largest complaints I have to date, is the time it takes to move or copy files. In cases of one or two files, the time is minimal. But in cases where larger file moves are taking place - the pace of transfer is painfully slow. For example, today it took approx. 30 mins to transfer only 45.8 MB. Earlier this month, an employee spent the entire day waiting for files to transfer, only for her computer to stop responding, and have to re-start the entire process the next day. On our previous server based environment, the same transfer would take less than 30 minutes. Additionally, in some of these larger file moves, users have reported large losses of data. The files were moved, and confirmed, only to come in the next day and they have disappeared. This issue is decreasing adoption and causing our IT team multiple headaches. Any suggestions or helpful feedback?Solved121KViews2likes55CommentsLinks to Sharepoint documents set to download
Previously in Sharepoint (mere weeks ago), I was able to change links to Sharepoint documents to set to download, instead of having the document open in a browser. I would change the URL containing "guestaccess.aspx" to "download.aspx". However, when I now retrieve a link to a document from Sharepoint, it looks very different (and shorter). It looks like the following: https://www.website.com/:x:/s/IntraActive/Path/Document-code The URL no longer contains "guestaccess.aspx", I therefore am not able to set the document to download. Does anyone have any ideas?Solved108KViews0likes36Comments
