We are happy to announce that we will be releasing SharePoint page approvals to Targeted Release. We expect to start the rollout of this feature to all Targeted Release tenants by end of July 2018. Rollout status Current rollout status: July 31st, 2018 - Deployed to 10% of Targeted Release tenants August 3rd, 2018 - Deployed to 50% of Targeted Release tenants August 6th, 2018 - Deployed to 100% of Targeted Release tenants January 8th, 2019 - Deployed to all tenants in SharePoint Online Documentation: 1. Configure page approval 2. Page approval flow Known issues If the page is checked-out by another user and you (the author in this case) submit the page for approval, the page will not notify and proceed with the approval. The flow will run and send an email indicating to the author indicating an error occurred in publishing the page. If you have only major versions enabled for the Site Pages library, submit for approval will result in int he following error: Could not complete that action: The type of data at position 0 is different than the one expected. There an issue with the Flow service for the UK region. Any existing UK tenants created before March 2018 will work while it affects only new tenants created after March 2018. We expect to have this resolved by end of September if everything goes according to the plan. See this thread for more information. Good news is that these will be fixed soon are fixed! If you have any feedback, please make sure you discuss here! Configure page approval Site owners can configure page approval to add to the standard publishing process for a site. After adding page approval flow, new and updated pages will be not be published directly. Instead, only the completion of the approval flow will make changes visible to all readers of the site. A site owner can configure page approval flow from the Flow menu of a pages library. Submit page for approval Once the page approval is configured, authors will be able to submit page for approval. The publish button will be replaced by a submit for approval button. The page will be published once the page is approved. Rejecting a page will put that page back to draft status. Approve page Approvers will get an email regarding the page approval request. They can either approve the page directly in the email (in email clients that support actionable messages) or open the page from the email to review and approve the page in SharePoint. Customizing the page approval flow Since page approvals use Microsoft Flow behind the scenes, the page approval flow is available to site owners to modify and add any custom business process items in the flow. After creating the flow, the site owner can click on Flows -> See your flows in the pages library to find the page approval flow. For example, The default approval type is set to ‘anyone can approve’. Site owners can modify the flow and change the approval type to ‘everyone must approve’ if that is the requirement.48KViews16likes63CommentsSharePoint Online - 500 internal server error while creating communication or team sites
I am getting 500 internal server error while creating communication site or team site from https://%3Cdomain%3E.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/sharepoint.aspx link. It is showing option to select team site or communication site initially, once i select the site type, then alert is displaying and saying that do you want to leave this page, if i click on Leave, then it is showing me 500 internal server error. If i click on stay, then site is not creating at all. Do I need to request for special permissions from my admin?31KViews0likes7CommentsSharePoint Communication Sites - "Send by email" settings
Hello, In th new communication sites you have that "Send by email" on top of every news/page. Is it possible to control it somehow via the settings? Apparently it is possible to email a news to an External User and we want to avoid that. Even if the external user cannot open the link in the email, they can see a preview of the page/news. Thanks for your feedback, Best regards,25KViews1like28CommentsModern Team Sites vs. Communication Sites--is there really a difference?
I may be late to this conversation if it's been had already, but now that my organization has gained access to more Modern page design features (editable banner, Hero web part, Events web part, layout options), I'm left wondering if there is no fundamental difference between Modern Team Sites and Communication Sites other than what you start out with when the site is created. I'm looking mainly at how a Communication Site's structure can, as it seems to me, be built using webparts and configuration items available in Team sites. Given that, currently, newly created Communication Sites are their own site collections, I'm not seeing a reason to start out with a Communication Site when I can just build one from a gutted Team site. Can anyone tell me what significant differences there are between a Modern Team Site and a Communication Site may be?Solved22KViews1like19CommentsCommunications Site "Promote Page" feature flaw
Hello, We are currently developing our Intranet using the Modern Communications site template. Overall, we are pleased with the functionality but I have noticed that when a user clicks 'Promote' on a page, there is no way to demote it afterward. I have been able to create a custom column the calculates the 'promotedstate' property but I am unable to change the value from 2 (promoted) to 0 (not promoted). Does anyone have any experience or insight? I currently have several pages that were promoted in testing which should not have been promoted and as the Site Collection Administrator I would really love the ability to demote pages if they were promoted in error.Solved19KViews0likes21CommentsModern Communications Hub Site- Error on Hub Home Page
Hey there, I enabled a Modern Communications site as a Hub site and associated several Team sites. The Nav is working great and when I view the home page of my Hub site(I am the site collection admin), I can see the 'News' web part is serving news from sites in the hub and the 'Sites' web part is showing sites associated with the Hub. However, my users are not seeing this. They see two blank web parts. They do not even see news published from the Hub site itself. And, below the blank 'Sites' web part there is an error. Hi! I am working on the modern search experience in sharepoint. One of the things that we have had some feedback on is the scoping of search when searching from a team site or a communication site. I would like to ask you what you think of the current experience and if / how you would like to have it. The idea is that when you do a search from the site we will surface the search results scoped to the site you have search from. You can then choose to upscope the search to all Sharepoint results by clicking the Sharepoint link in the search breadcrumb in the following picture. What do you think about this feature?13KViews1like23CommentsHow to move document library from a team site to communication site?
Hi, I used to migrate document libraries and lists using Content and Structure in SharePoint online. I am exploring Communication Site option for our intranet and wondering how can I copy / move document library and lists from existing Team site to Communication Site. TIA! I'm building some modern team and communication sites which create the associated group, however that's showing the group in outlook online and I have begun to have users email those groups. Problem with that is my user/owners of the site are more focused on the site part of it, not the group features. Thus are missing the conversation posts. Ideally I'd like to disable/hide the ability for regular users to post to conversations. Anyone encountering this conundrum?Solved7.8KViews0likes3Comments
