Howdy, y'all. I've just been hired into a new office, and as the only member of Gen Z to be employed, I've been summarily appointed to the media committee, which includes thinking through the ways that we communicate with one another effectively. The issue that's driving me up a wall at the moment is our calendar management. We have an Excel sheet saved as a tab within one of our Teams channels that lists every employee's status in the office for every day of the year. This is helpful for a couple of reasons: We work in healthcare and must have one person on-call at all times. There are two on-call shifts per day; one from 8 AM to 8 PM, and one from 8 PM to 8 AM. There must be a minimum number of staff people working during regular weekdays (that is, aside from the on-call staffer, we must also be able to see that there are at least a couple people aside from the on-call person who are in the office during a regular week, so that the office isn't completely empty around Christmas and so on). For this, we usually look at the row for the day of the month and the column for the employee's name, with the intersecting cell being filled in with the time of their shift. In addition to the two on-call shifts per day, one person will be designated as "substitute" for one 24-hour period. If either the AM or PM on-call person call out, the substitute will clock in to replace them. Further, there is a staffer who is designated as the support member for an entire week's time. Should the on-call person have questions or concerns, the support member will be able to answer their call at any time during the week. We typically have it color-coded so we know by taking a glance at the day who is on AM, who is on PM, who is substituting, and who is backup. This is an example: Staff A Staff B Staff C Staff D Staff E Staff F Staff G Friday 8/1 8a-8p 8a-4:30p 8a-4:30p 8p-8a 8a-4:30p 8a-4:30p 8a-4:30p Saturday 8/2 OFF 8a-8p 8p-8a OFF OFF OFF OFF Sunday 8/3 8p-8a OFF OFF 8a-8p OFF OFF OFF Monday 8/4 OFF 8p-8a 8a-4:30p OFF 8a-8p 8a-4:30p 8a-4:30p Tuesday 8/5 8a-8p OFF OFF 8p-8a 8a-4:30p 8a-4:30p 8a-4:30p Wednesday 8/6 8a-4:30p 8a-4:30p 8p-8a OFF 8a-8p 8a-4:30p 8a-4:30p KEY: AM on-call PM on-call Substitute Support Obviously, this way of keeping track of things is archaic and has led to chaos. Is there a better way somewhere in Teams/Outlook/SharePoint calendar, or in some other application that can connect to this workspace? We run basically everything in our department out of Teams81Views0likes1CommentAllow Custom Recurring Meetings with Different Times on Different Days
Currently, Microsoft Teams only supports recurring meetings with the same time across all selected days. I wanted to set up a recurring meeting on Tuesdays at 3:00 PM and Thursdays at 5:00 PM, but this is not possible within a single recurring event. I was forced to create two separate events to accommodate the different times. It would be incredibly helpful if Teams allowed users to create recurring meetings with: Different times on different days More flexible recurrence rules (e.g., every Tuesday at one time, every Thursday at another) This added flexibility would streamline scheduling and reduce clutter on calendars.818Views2likes1CommentTeams Revamps its Calendar with Outlook Components
The Teams calendar app is being refreshed in November 2024 when Teams takes on the calendar UI used by OWA and the new Outlook for Windows. The unified Microsoft 365 calendar experience is based on OPX and WebView and looks much better than the old Teams calendar. It makes perfect sense for the same UI to manipulate the same calendar data in both Outlook and Teams. https://office365itpros.com/2024/10/17/teams-calendar-app/1.2KViews0likes0CommentsMS Teams / Nur-Sultan (Astana, Kazakhstan) timezone and city name isn't up to date
Hello, I have some problems in both Teams for Business and Personal Teams First of all, the city is called Astana, not Nur-Sultan (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/sep/14/kazakhstan-to-change-name-of-capital-from-nur-sultan-back-to-astana).<br Secondly, on December 7, 2023, the Kazakh Ministry of Trade and Integration proposed that Kazakhstan switch to a single time zone in 2024. Specifically, Kazakhstan would uniformly apply the fifth time zone (UTC+5) across its entire territory. On March 1, 2024, the cities of Astana, Almaty, and Shymkent, as well as the following regions, will turn back the local time by one hour: Abai, Akmola, Almaty, Zhambyl, Zhetisu, Karagandy, Kostanai, Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan, Turkistan, Ulytau, and East Kazakhstan (https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/daylight-saving-time-time-zone/interim-guidance-for-kazakhstan-time-zone-changes-2024/ba-p/4048963). Currently, the time zone for Astana is UTC+5, but in MS Teams, it still shows UTC+6. Please address this issue. Looking forward to your response Best regards, Nikita.233Views0likes0CommentsHybrid Teams Meeting Location Not Updating/ Displaying both locations
Sometimes when I schedule hybrid meetings in Outlook (Attendees can join through MsTeams or onsite in a meeting room) using the room finder tool, even when I get confirmation that the resource/meeting room is accepted as reserved, I run into these issues: 1. The onsite meeting room added shows as invited under "required", but is not listed under "location" and I have no drop down options to add it. 2. The location field updates to including both MsTeams and the booked meeting room and both can be seen when you open the invitation: but in calendar/week view only the MsTeams option shows as location: Instead of like this: It happens randomly and only on occasion, but it prevents invitees from knowing there is a room booked they can join if onsite so I'm hoping to find a solution to make sure both locations show from now on.1.4KViews0likes2CommentsHow to add events to a Teams calendar without sending out a mass invite to all users
Hi All, Just had the functionality to add a Calendar as a Tab to a Microsoft Team. We were hoping to use this to track days off (as all day 'free time' events with no attendees), and to schedule meetings that the Department can track, but doesn't necessarily require everyone to be invited. However, every time we add an event, it automatically sends an invite to everyone in the team, and posts the content in the Posts section of the team. We looked at the Required Attendees, and no one was listed. Under the Scheduling Assistant, the only person listed under the Required Attendees is the user creating the invite. There is no one else in the team added. However, all teams members get an invite in their Outlook. Is there a way to: 1. Schedule items into the Calendar where invites are not sent out? 2. Ways to limit the users that do get invites if we want to have smaller meetings? 3. Stop it from posting everything to the Posts chat? (similar to adding a tab where you can deselect the "post to this channel about the tab") Thanks.Solved109KViews8likes7CommentsCalendar on Teams shifts appointments
Hello all! I noticed that when I select "Week" view on the calendar in Teams, it shifts my appointments by one day ahead. Below, I have created an appointment called "Veterinary Appointment" for Wednesday, May 1st. Upon changing the view from "Work week" to "Week", the appointment now shows under Thursday, May 02. Is this a bug or perhaps a setting in my Teams? Thanks! P.S - My guess is that "Week" view should really start with Sunday and not Monday. If it did, then my appointment would indeed be in the correct spot.1.5KViews0likes2CommentsShared Calendar in Teams not working since "new" Teams
I made a shared calendar that appear in one of our channels. It used to appear like this: Since the "new" teams, the calendar tab actually disappeared. But when I re-added it via the Sharepoint button: It came back in like this: Interestingly, if I click that link "can view and edit here", it brings up another page: If I click OK on this page, without changing anything, it will bring up the calendar back like it used to be (how I want). Also, if I open the Sharepoint page thru a browser for this calendar, it displays correctly. Any help is appreciated! Thank you.1.7KViews0likes2CommentsThe calendar missing from the side, unable to schedule Teams meeting
I have this issue that the calendar does not show up in the desktop MS Teams application. It was working fine when running on MS Team Classic version(retired), and recently have subscribed to the Teams Essential, and found not able to schedule a meeting. When looking through the past comments, which was quite old, and the interface is not the same to find out the problem. Is there some setting required with the current Teams version? My install version as: Microsoft Teams Version 1.6.00.22378 (64-bit) Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.1.6KViews1like5CommentsCalendar
Hi! Looking for a way to have a channel calendar BUT it should not create either a booking in my calendar or a teams link in the booking. The purpose is only to inform in a lage group. For example: We have one IT-team woking with different parts of the organization. They share a teams channel were the askquestion, inform etc etc and to make this even better they would like a calendar-tab were everyone could add a block in the calendar for larger "happenings". It's not actually a meeting but it makes sense to go to that calendar to be able to get an overview whats happening every week on a high level. For instance "around noon tuesday the ERP is getting an update", "at 8 in the morning on friday, the e-com site is is xxx", "down time for product xx next week wednesday". You get what I'm asking for? Channelcalendar seems to be too advanced or is it a way to create the "meetings" in another way ? .. Thanks!814Views0likes1Comment
