Please for more information.
How did you convert the file?
What software did you use?
hich Word version are you using?
Which operating system do you have?
Is it possible to insert the file (please, without sensitive data) in order to rule out many assumptions and at the same time to give you the best possible solution.
Thank you for your patience and understanding,
Nikolino

to answer your questions in order
1. I used office-pdf.com to convert the file
2. Word 2016
3. Windows 10
I would rather not send the file as it is confidential

Do not think that I can help further.
I converted very often from PDF to Word but always with "Adobe Acrobat Pro DC", it always worked without problems.
I have no experience with office-pdf.com and do not know whether it could be due to any settings in this software.
Perhaps the general possibility of link removal will help you.
Remove a hyperlink from a single address
Step 1. Right-click the hyperlink.
Step 2. Choose Remove Hyperlink from the pop-up menu.
Remove all hyperlinks at once
Step 1. Press "Ctrl + A" to select all of the text.
Step 2. Press "Ctrl + Shift + F9" to remove all hyperlinks at once.
Thank you for your patience and understanding,
