Useability
I want to replace one style with another. But when I go to do it, the "Find Style" list is out of order, and I have to waste time going through the whole list looking for it.
When I try to choose the new style, the "Replace With Style" is out of order, and I have to waste time again, looking for one of Word's handy styles.
To make things even more fun, the tiny little windows I just mentioned, like so maaaany others, are not resizeable. Little windows that must display dozens of styles, tiny as postage stamps since I fell victim to Word. Forever and ever, Amen.
Then I have to refresh the source of some OLE links. But the option is not in the menus, which since I am a victim of Word dance and dance, as if the party lasted for ever and ever, Amen.
I suppose an organisation as big as yours has a Customer Life Impossibility Design department, staffed, I'm sure, by hundreds of thinking heads, straight out of some very dark, dank, screaming, echoing place.

Second, a request that you edit your post's title:
Would you please edit your post's title to something like: "Order of Styles when using Find and Replace?" Virtually everyone here has a problem with or question about Word's usability. People who have the same question you have, need to be able to find the question. People who answer questions here often will skip something as vague as that. You may want to look at How to Ask Questions In this Forum (to get the best and quickest answers) for more thoughts.
Finally, a possible answer to your question:
In the Windows desktop application, you can change the order in which Word displays styles. I generally keep mine set to show all styles and to display in alphabetical order.

As far as I know, Word for the Mac has no comparable feature, but I do not use a Mac.
I did not know that this changed the order in the Replace dialog, but checked. If the display order is set to an alphabetical list, that will apply to the Replace dialog when searching for styles.
The thing is, Word is a huge program that has gone through umpteen revisions, often by people coding who do not use the program and who do not know how a change they make will affect other features.
