Turning Off Automatic Display of All Documents?

If I have a Word document minimized, when I open up a second document it not only displays the newly opened document but also the minimized document. Is this a setting that can be turned off, so that minimized documents stay minimized? Very annoying.

I had this problem recently ... then I modified the registry to fix .

Windows > run "regedit" >
then go to : HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT > Word.Document.12 > shell > open > command > then double click on "(Default)". In the box you have "/n" already now type "/q" before that. it should be /q /n , Click OK

I am sure this will fix.
